Ok, so I saw this link http://www.cozyjoz.com/ on kijiji and checked it out. Water proof pet beds-for incontinent pets?

I ordered two small and am picking them up on Thursday-they are waterproof pet beds (supposedly it’s the fabric and not a treatment, so even after washing they stay water proof). I’m going to try them out for Noot and Chuck (although Noot is doing a lot better with his litter habits -gave him another larger litter box-and we’re going to the vet very soon for some tests. I’m also giving one to Rupert and Kahlua for their window seat-it’s not too cushy up there and waterproof will just be a bonus.

I’ll let you guys know how they work out. They are uber cheap and I think she ships, so if they really are all they are cracked up to be, these would be super for ANY incontinent pet you have, as they come in four sizes and she does custom sizes too.

Let us know how it works – I have a few that I could use these on.

My dilemna is usually will it fit in the washing machine – sometimes if these things are too thick, they don’t fit or wash well.

For washing towels or other materials that have been urine soaked, I found a wonderful citrus cleaner at Walmart for under $5.00 for a huge bottle of concentrated cleaner that lasts and lasts and is very cheap for the great cleaning it does. It is in the automotive section. It is called “Greased Lightning Blast”, orange powered and cleans car engines and has a list of other things that you can use it for. I use it in the wash when I wash stuff that has urine smell etc, or anything with tough grease and it works. It has even cleaned grease spots on shirts that have been already washed and dried when you think the greast stain is set, you put it full strength right onto the grease spot and rewash and it gets rid of it. It also removes the smell because of the orange citrus smell.

              I’m so dumb. I was just telling a coworker….

She suggested baby mattresses…UH HELLO!! Those would be perfect and you would just wipe them off!

Well I’m going to try both! I’m committed to picking up the two pillows and they are cheap and small. And I think I’ll try a baby mattress too!

I could use a few too for Hershey. She must be well hydrated because it doesn’t smell strong like urine, it’s just wet everywhere she sits still for a while. Right now I have a stack of thick towels and sheepskin pads I switch out at night. I think she likes the cushy padding because I’ll see her stretch out and snuggle into it 😉

Sarita, by the looks of these you would have to worry about fitting them in washing machine. They have removable cover and you can just wipe it clean too. I’ve seen a water proof  hybrid type fabric in outdoor/hiking type stores. Using Neoprene? I wonder if this stuff is similar?

K&K, I’m wondering though if it’ll do what you need it too though. Like won’t the urine just run off and pool somewhere anyway? Then they tread in it and you’ve got urine soaked fur again.

That’s great that Noot has improved some with the larger litter box. They’re so funny what preferences they have.  I’ve just put together Litter Box Version 8 at my place….fingers crossed.

True-guess we’ll see I ordered two smalls so they are cheap enough If they suck I can always give ’em to Mikey-he loves killing pillows…(they are about the same price as a dog toy right?)

SO i picked them up. I’m a dummy. They are 12$ for extra covers -they were 35$ each (would have only ordered one to start had I not been dumb!!)

                      Sooo

BUT they are great!! The buns LOVE them. Noot and Chuck (my seniors) have been on the pillow a ton.

They are a rubber material and are not resistant-totally water proof… there is a cover she makes (the 12$ thingy) and they are cute. But I thnk I may strip them and use the rubber pillow.

ALSO my GF wants to make them as a hobby and sell them. WE will likely not make money but we both sew and it will be fun-and we will have tons of pillows!!

                        K&K,
I had used Palace Pet Beds when Spockie was incontinent. They went in the washing machine. I could cut them with a matte knife to any size, so the squares and strips fit into my mini-apartment washer without any trouble. Just an alternative that I especially liked. Nice and soft, too.

When is Noot having the tests? I was pleased to hear he took to the new litter box actually. I was thinking perhaps when he has the urge to pee, perhaps he just doesn’t have time to get to the box or just doesn’t know it’s happening? Just like some senior humans! I wondered if you placed lots of litter boxes strategically about whether that would help?

                            Palace Pet Beds

I’ve actually never heard of those! Where did you get those?

When is Noot having the tests

We’re booked in for December (going to see Chuck too -may as well) when she’s back. I think the 3- but I’d have to check.
I did reduce their area a bit-but gave them two HUGE litter boxes, and they are doing much better. Still pooping and peeding right in front of the feed/water dish (trying to think how I can put litter receptacle at the feeding station) So I’m not entirely sure it’s medical-but at Noot’s age may as well get it checked anyways. He hasn’t had an exam since I got him so it’s been about eight months I *think*

Just like some senior humans! I wondered if you placed lots of litter boxes strategically about whether that would help?

Heheh -just like seniors humans That’s a good idea-about 1/3 of their space is litter boxes now-but I really need to figure out how to put litter so that they are in it while they are eating-I was thinking raised platform and litter pan in front? Tricky to not be too raised so Chuck notices it’s there-and what material…Thinking pine maybe.

Me, I would just put a whole newspaper under their water/food bowls and replace that as needed. Tricky to set something up though, especially with Chucks disabilities. I even though having it at a sub-level rather than raised but then stuff would just get kicked into it wouldn’t it…
Can they have feed bowl secured to pen side above a shallow litter tray? Or like a shallow feed trough inside a box? Edit: No. They would just put their butts over it and pee – knowing rabbits!

Palace pet beds…Sarita and Pam have mentioned these before. I think the site was palacepet.com

I dont’ know if this will help you.   However when I let Ruby out to play I put her litterbox in a real big plastic storage container.  If she hasn’t finished her pellets I put her bowl in there.  Being it is big I can put all this in there and she has room once she gets in the storage container.

You may need to put a ramp for them to get into it tho if they have a hard time jumping.   I started doing this cuz all the hay gets stuck in her hair as she jumped out and got all over the floor.   This method helps keep the mess down.

IT may help your buns with the issue they are having at their feeding area

Here’s the link. I did business with them via email and over the phone. They had the nicest saleswoman who tipped me off to a big sale one time on the largest pieces so I could cut them to size and save money on buying that instead of several.

Yes, Sarita has used them too. Soft like lambswool pieces, but designed to absorb pee.
