› FORUM › DIET & CARE › Monkey’s going in for her big (well, kinda little) snip!
Eep! Wednesday my little girl is gettin her bits taken out, I’m so nervous! I have to bring her in at 8 am, which itself is an ungodly hour, it should be illegal to have to be up before noon, and she’s the first surgery of the day. *cry* My poor wittle bunbun is gonna be soooo maaaaad at me!
Oooo ((((healing vibes)))) to Monkey! And some love vibes too…so she doesn’t hold a grudge too long! ((())))
8AM ungodly – LOL – I woke up today at 5AM, on my day off, and couldn’t get back to sleep.
Monkey will be just fine, and you want her to be the first surgery of the day. The doc is fresh, totally focused on your baby, just had coffee and not running late. It’s all good.
Monkeybun… I understand your concern, I called the dr office about every 30 min when Pebbles went in. And to tell you the truth I was kinda scared, because when she came home I expected her to be like a cat or dog (of course, very rude of me to expect this) and be up and about with in a few hours… it was a day and half later before she started eating and drinking and pooing…. I know understand where gray hair comes from. Take the opportunity to clean bunbun’s house, and wash and fluff some soft towels (as long as she doesn’t eat them). Find a good book so that you can read to her when she comes home, be prepared for a little grump on your hands for a few days… but it is all worth it. Wisker tickle kisses from Pebbles to Monkeybun.
Pam, its a rare day that I wake up before 1pm lol. Then again, I’m awake til around 4 or 5 am every day… I’m such a night owl. pebbles, I’m soooo gonna be a worry wart, making sure everything is nice and comfy and warm for my Monkey, her towels freshly washed and fluffed for her, her litter box clean with nice soft hay for her to nibble on, a suit of armor on me to protect me from her displeasure… lol
I’d actually forgotten until now, but I had brought her in for her procedure the same week that my mother took a fall while visiting a friend who was in a rehab center. I was called to get to the emergency room with my Dad (she’s recovered from this for a while now btw) and we were busy taking care of her. The vet called and found out so they offered to just keep Sammy as long as I needed them to until I could pick her up. Nothing makes you trust the vet to care for the bunny like a crisis with your humans.
Hopefully you will only be worrying about Monkey, but I found Sammy was absolutely great from start to finish and realized it was good not to be worrying about her too.
I feel your pain on the hour. I dread making that appt and being told to be in there at some evil time of day like that. Who’s bright idea was it anyway to make days start before noon? Like you I rarely get up before noonish or 1. (Except these evil physical therapy ppl think I need to be in at 10 3 times a week. Seriously, the physical torture isn’t enough I have to get up 4 hours early too?) I’m sure that she’ll do fine in surgery, but it’s normal to worry I think. I’m taking the night off work when Freya goes in since she’ll be there overnight. I don’t think I’ll be able to work. I’ll be taking the next day off work too so I can be with her. I also decided I’ll sleep on the couch so I can be by her in case she needs me. I’m totally not overprotective. Let us know how she does.
The reason for the early hour is for the bun’s health and safety. They can do the surgery and then monitor the rabbit for a few hours after it to make sure everything is OK and still return it to you before the day’s over. I think it would be more of a strain on you if you dropped your rabbit off at 4pm and had to wait until the next day to pick them up.
Heheheh I agree-no one should do anything before noon. I get to work but yeh, that’s about it LOL
{{Easy Spay Vibes}}
-vibes-
keep us posted! i know she’ll do great. =)
This is Echo sending snuggles to Monkey. I remember all too well that little snip! It’s been almost two weeks since mine, and I’m back to normal other than my incision lump. It wasn’t fun, but it wasn’t too bad, either. You get lots of treats because your mom feels bad! Yay, raisins!)
Oh, and here’s a little tip: they’re going to try to keep you in prison, so you need to rattle that cage for all your worth! It probably won’t make them free you, but it WILL annoy them, which, if you ask me, is small punishment for what those meanie humans put us through!! I mean, how can how can you “fix” a perfect bunny?! Simple, I say! They’re all simple!
{{{{Successful spay vibes}}}} and {{{{Quick recovery vibes}}}} for Monkey!
Echo, Monkey here. i already rattle my pen around, as they’ve been keeping me confined in it ever since I made the couch mine. They say I’ll be allowed to run around again after I’m “fixed” silly humans. I showed them tho, I escaped again last night. And I bit their computer cables for good measure when i got out on my own. Mwahahaha!
Monkey …It’s Bun. My owner says I’m getting “fixed” this month too. WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN. I bit her good to show her and i’ll do it again and keep wee’ing all over her bed. You should meet the new baby bun. He pooped her pillow!!! I hope your “fixing” goes well and keep being naughty. Us dwarves gotta stick together being divas.
Monkey- this is Comet. I know you act all tough but you’re probably a little bits scared to go get fixed too. It’s not so bad really, the humans give you lots of pets and treats when you come home. Plus for me, they gave me mashed bananas for like 3 days after with my medicine in it. I didn’t even taste the medicine, just the tasty nanners!
It’s Wednesday, so sending {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{successful fixing vibes}}}}}}}}}}}}}} to our little monkey.
It’s probably all over now, or will be on the road to recovery by lunch time.
Sammy says it’s a piece of cake. Carrot cake, of course.
Sending vibes for little Monkey bun.
Leroy and I are sending vibes for a good surgery and a speedy recovery, Monkey!
How’s Monkey doing?
Just dropped my little Monkey off, they said around 3 pm we can come get her, if they don’t call before they take their lunch at 1. So I have to wait alllll day for my itty bitty funny bun to get home
*sniffles*
Good luck to Monkey!! Otto is keeping his loppy ears crossed for her 😉
me and my buns are sending healing vibes her way! ((((((((((((((((((((((((Monkey)))))))))))))))))))))))))))
Much love to you and Monkey. I’m dreading the day in February when I have to take my bun. ![]()
Well, she made it through good, she’s in her cage relaxing atm, she isn’t too keen on walking around right now lol. She’s also kinda grumpy, but that may be because there was another bunny there that was adorable.. someone abandoned a bunny at my vet today, the poor thing. So he’s lookin for a home… hmm… >.> He was a little sweetie, demanding pets from everybody that walked by. hehe
I’ll tempt Monkey with a raisin later, she’s napping now ![]()
Oh good! (((Healing Vibes))) for Lil Monkey.
Hope she comes around to her playful self soon, glad to here all’s well
!

It’s so hard after surgery-you want them to be totally back to normal but it takes them a few days.
Also I noticed wet eyes. I figured it was stres or something-but actually they put lubrictaion on animals eyes during surgery because they animal keeps them open sometimes….so I was so fuzzed about Kahlua having wet eyes but it was just vet lube
Keep a close eye on the suture and soon your out of the woods (Do monkeys WANT out of the woods?
~ hhehe)
She’s being a good girl with her incision, she washes it, but doesn’t tug at the stitches at all. just keeps it clean. Then she flops in her box or her little bed. We kept her in the cage all night last night, with me camped out beside it so I could hear if she was in pain or anything. She did wake me up munching on a little pile of lettuce i left to tempt her appetite at 4 am. She pooped a bunch today, yay, so I’m not worried about her digestive system now, and she’s been eating everything she can like usual. Today we put up her pen, although a lot smaller than usual, its about the same area as her cage right now. So she can hop in and out of her cage but can’t get too excited about anything. She’s beign a very good little girl, even licked my finger tip today! She never does that! *snuggles from a distance lol*
This weekend we’re gonna head over to the humane society and talk to them about adopting another bun soon for her to have a friend. there’s no way we’d introduce her to another til she’s all healed, but we wanna have a look at all of em there. That bun we saw abandoned at the vet on wednesday even made the hubby want another one, one that snuggles lol.
I am very late in responding here, but I wanted to say I am so happy Monkey is feeling and healing well. I am also an extreme night owl so I know how you feel about those am hours.
Oh…and becareful…very careful about “just looking” at bunnies – so easily can turn into “taking home” a bunny buddy. So good luck with that!
It’s really fun though to think about inviting a new bunny in. Can’t wait to hear about it.
Oh heck, me and the hubby have known for ages we’re gonna get another bunny for her to play with
We have the room and the money for it, so why not give another homeless bunny a good warm place to live ![]()
I’m so glad to hear she’s doing well! Girls are a little scarier when healing up from surgery, but sounds like you have a great vet!
And exciting news about a prospective “second”… Buns are addicting! It’s amazing how quickly the speutered ones multiply! LOL!
Our vet is the top exotic pets vet in oregon, he’s awesome
Dr. Mark Burgess, I think he’s the only person alive that Monkey will let look at her private bits without a fuss
Eeeep! WHAT?! Its only Tuesday!!!
Silly, she got spayed LAST wednesday ![]()
LOL Wonderful you have such a great vet!!!
And we get to be the first who know when you get another bunny-or at least narrow done the choices right?
*gets pokey stick*
Of course! I’ll be taking pics of all of the prospects to post here when Monkey meets them in a couple weeks. ![]()
