        well i was just thinking..

what if you do not start giving your bunnny hay until you after 2 years later?is it bad for the rabbit?(my friend just got a bunny from some lady and said that the lady did not feed her hay for the past 2 years, will it affect the rabbit if she started to now?)i mean…what if she doesent end up feeding the bunny hay will it be affected?and as for wild bunnys…they survive without hay…

Wild bunnies have a ton of grass and dried grass to eat. Domestic bunnies should DEFINITELY have hay. They need the fibre so their digestive systems can work properly. Tell your friend to get the bunny started on timothy hay.

Yeah start it straight away and the better quality the better, my foster rabbit did not get access to large amounts of hay and had to be convinced to eat it (vet gave me a tips sheet I am sure someone will have something like that on here) and now she eats it all the time, since switching over she is more active and goes to the toliet more which the vet said is a good thing

It doesn’t matter that the bun did not have hay before-he should have it now As others have said, start right away

Wild Bunnies eat grass (Lots of people say ‘oh but wild bunnies this…’ well, wild bunnies do not often live past three so they aren’t a good example anyways! )

Hay is also useful for wearing down their teeth. Like rodents, rabbit teeth continuously grow. Hay, believe it or not, helps to wear them down.

This happens very often where the bunny’s first (or second, third, fourth home) does not offer hay at all. One of two things usually happen when the bun gets to a GOOD home and is offered hay for the first time… either they devour it b/c it is so yummy and they are so excited to have it… or they ignore it like they’re thinking,”WHAT THE HECK IS THIS STUFF?!” Definitely encourage them to give the bunny hay.

Miffy my foster rabbit I had to hand feed her good hay and veggies as well as get her to watch the others eat it.

If she snarfs down the hay because she’s the kind that loves it once she tries it, don’t be alarmed if she has a little bit of digestion trouble at first. When a bunny changes their diet they can sometimes have a sensitivity to the change. In this case, stick with giving her the hay daily. Unlimited quantities so she can feed on it as much as she wants. Any change in her poopies will get regular very fast. It may help clean some of the not-so-good foods she’s had in the past out of her system.
