The last 2 weeks Cotton is a new bun.  He is so active.   Whenever he has some where to go he usually runs there now.  He chewed and ate up his willow cube in a matter of days.  For the first time he has actually chewed on the cardboard paper towel tube.  He enjoys his hay now and his newspaper too.  Yep got to make sure Cotton gets his paper.  lol.

He doens’t sleep all day anymore.  He is busy chewing or going somewhere.  Then he rests a little.   He must be feeling great now.  His lip is almost healed.  Not swollen anymore.  I would get pics but I dont’ know if you will be able to see them instead of red squares.

However his hair with the skin flakes on it I dont’ know what that is I am going to take him to see his Dr. next week.  Could it be mange?  HE doesn’t have fur mites.  Or the soap dried out his skin.  I just use the soap on the lip and iodine on his flakes and bald spot.  Cotton got dandruff?

Maybe the scrub dried up his skin and it is flaky.  A flake fell off when I was tending his lip and the hair came off with it.  Weird.

Sure is good to see him happy and in good shape otherwise.  He has a little scab left on his lip.  I am treating him once a day now. Every morning we play chase so I can get him and do his lip lol.   He runs here I come he runs there I come he found a spot to hide and I can’t get him though.  He goes under the table I move the chair now to get to him then he takes off agian.  lol.   Since I stopped picking his flakes off he doesnt’ grunt and box when I pick him up.  He doesn’t want to be bald.  I dont’ want a bald bunny either

Hey have you seen the tv thing on the ugliest dog. Had all these hairless dogs.

Hopefully Cotton won’t look like that.

i doubt its mange- probably from the scrub. the dr will test it for you. max gets dandruffy sometimes.

My intuition says the soap and treatments have just dried him out a bit. It may be how it took down the swelling and sore by drying it out some.
I doubt from his great behavior that it’s really worrisome.

Did you read my reply in your other post about using the resizing free software that you can download? I thought that might help with the pix a bit. Worth a try maybe?

This is such happy news. I was looking at your new pics of him in the lounge and thinking about that dilemma you had a few weeks ago regarding his quality of life. It made me tear up.  Here we are a short time later with one happy, active little bun!  Your care has paid off -it’s so great.  The dry skin could well be from the treatment – obviously it’s preferrable to those scabs. Perhaps it’s the end on the “thing” coming out of his skin?  I know sometimes I get like a lump on my chin ( a blind pimple or cold sore sort of under the skin) and it can get inflammed.  Then once it settles there is often dry skin that comes off.  Not that our skin and rabbits are that alike!

I was thinking maybe you could rub a little food grade mineral oil on it but maybe check with vet. You wouldn’t want to compromise the area or have reaction with current treatment cream etc.

Yes JG that is something.   He wasn’t very active and when I pet him  if I pushed his head down on accident he would jump straight up cuz it hurt when his chin touched the couch or whatever.

Now he lays his head flat down when he gets pettings.  Thats just great.

RAbbitpam I did see your link too

I believe my hp needed some updates cuz it works good now with photos

I am just so glad to hear his lip is better and that he seems to have more energy now! Yay Cotton & BT!
I would bet the flaky skin is probably from the wash too. Sometimes those prescription soaps can be pretty harsh to areas not meant to receive them.
Mange is definitely distinguishable by it’s suppurating sores and greasy look, if I remember right. This doesn’t sound like what you’re describing.

                          Probably the wash.
