         Hi!

I have two rabbits, Pongo & Gizmo. We got them when they were just babies and my sister fell in love with Gizmo instantly. She ended up keeping him, but when she had to move to a new apartment about a year or so ago we had to take Gizmo. They both have their own cages; unfortunately they aren’t re-bonded, but they love each other dearly. They are both neutered so they’re very sweet, but putting them together sometimes results in them both trying to be dominant; however, they are perfectly happy laying next to each other when there is a fence in between them.

My mother & I have decided to move their cages next to each other. We both know they will be much happier being able to somewhat snuggle while still having their own space. The only problem is, when Gizmo is running around, if he is sitting by Pongo’s cage he sometimes pees and always poops next to it. I know that bunnies will poop around the entry/premises to their cage or space, so when we move their cages next to each other, how can a help prevent him from peeing on the border of where their cages meet? Has anyone else ever had problems such as this when putting two cages next to each other?

Also, we’re going to be getting new flooring for their cages. Right now we just have sleeves that we made with some old sheets that slide over the floor, but I wanted to look into getting some carpet that we can just lay on top of the floor; however, I’m open to anything  What have you found to be the best type of flooring?

        Thanks in advance!

I would check out the Cool Habitats section to get some ideas about different housing set ups and floorings used. Go up to the green banner and mouse over the Bunny Info section for the menu.

I think I’ve seen some shield type things that act like a baseboard to protect from pee being sprayed. That might be an option. It’s possible they will pee at first but stop after they feel it’s properly marked.

Ah, I don’t know why I didn’t think of that earlier! Thank you!
