Our 4 month old Holland Lop goes in the litter box most of the time, but still goes on her bedding on the bottom of the cage AND outside cage as soon as we let her out.  She then won’t go in the kitchen, but will go if she goes upstairs on the carpet and on any tile floor she touches.   How can I teach her to ONLY go in the litter box? Please help.  Thanks.

Have you read the good information that is posted on the Binky Bunny website yet on litter training?

          https://www.binkybunny.com/BUNNYINFO/Litter…fault.aspx

There is alot of good information there and I suggest you read it and try some of those suggestions.  She is also reaching puberty and will need to be spayed soon…sometimes they lose any litter box habits at this age prior to spaying.

I’ll list everything I can think of that will be posted later:

            1) Get her fixed.
            2) Get rid anything absorbent in her cage (bedding) except for what is in her litter box.
            3) Keep her area limited until she learns to use only her box.

Agree with everything that hooty just said. Limit her time away until you feel confident with her, slowly expanding her reach until she’s got the whole run of the place.

It took keeping Freya confined to her condo for a while to get her to use her litter box. She still has a spot right in front of a door where she likes to leave a few poops. I figure as long as it isn’t everywhere and it’s only poop I’m not worried. I dispaired of her ever learning to use the box til we locked her up. Then it just seemed to magically happen and she’s fine now. We used to try everything to get her to use it and she’s practically perfect now. We don’t even keep any food or hay anywhere near her box, she’s very prissy about that and does not want edible things where she poops. (She’s a bit of a freak for a rabbit.)
