I love how they’ve dug under the wooden house. The seem to be paired off. At first I thought you’d taken Pinky there! Is that the REW you were concerned about? Is it young? It looks young…

It’s also very sad, I think they are all unwanted pets.
I personally know someone that I used to work with dropped her daughters bunny over that fence when it hit puberty.
It was everything I could do to not beat her senseless right there when she told me she did it.
I never spoke to her again through 6 or more years of working with her, I was too disgusted to even try to explain to her how wrong that was,
& I was very afraid of totally flipping out on her if she tried to defend her actions. It would have cost me the very good paying job.

oh furface thats terrible! i can totally see myself reacting the same way! seriously… what is WRONG with people? *sigh*

jersey… yes that is the rew that i was worried about! she looks a bit better i will keep checking on her to be sure that she is getting better since i don’t know what they’re doing about it exactly.

kaf… the pics are from an animal ‘display’ that’s in my local park. the park is free and the animals are maintained by the city. there are areas with deer, an alpaca, mini horse, mini cow, goats, hens, chickens, a turkey, a peacock, and of course the bunnies! there were wee pigs there earlier in the season too that my dog was fond of

i actually wonder if they get some of their bunnies from the humane society? anyways… before i spoke with the gentleman who manages animal care in the park i was sooo worried about how they were cared for. the fact that they live outside and don’t have human slaves of their own feels sad to me in the first place knowing that they’re domestic breeds. but at least they seem to have decent care. and eachother. i will keep looking into this hopefully by volunteering some day when its my turn… infiltration… muahahaha. sorry… got carried away there… its friday. and they have a nice place to run around in and a barn in the winter. can’t believe they don’t have trouble with hawks. *shudders*

furface did you know they have bunnies in the area with the chickens and the peacock and turkey? i hadn’t seen bunnies in there other years. i wonder if they weren’t bonding with the others in the main rabbit area?

I haven’t been to the animal section in many many years probably 30. When my parents used to take us, I think they were Cotton Tails. I’ll have to ask my Dad whether they were domestic or Cotton Tails back then. I was surprised by the photos being domestics.

When we were children there were also a couple of bears & some cougars. I think they transfered them out because in the 70’s students or activists kept letting them out.

We used to bring carrots & feed the animals. The bunnies were never tame so you just threw the carrot chunks in. The deer & elk would eat them right out of you hand through the fence. The bear enclosure had a second 1/2 fence around it but I remember being lifted up high enough to just reach the inner fence to put carrots in the with the bears too – maybe another reason they removed them. LOL My parents were very careful about it, the carrots went on the opposite side to where the bears were at that moment & it was very quick.

They had the/a peacock then too.
There was also either a hawk or an eagle, in a cage that was not big enough for flight.
They may have had an alpaca then too, or a llama, maybe it was a camel. Wow 45 & I can’t remember before 10 very well at all.
I think there may have also been emus, or ostriches. I’ll have to ask my parents if they remember.

That is wrong on so many levels.    Starting with how high that fence is.

I would have had words at some point.  She mustn’t have even considered…….  I would have liked to have enlightened her to the wrongness in it – and I’m a very non-confrontational person.  I bet you would have liked to as well if you knew it wouldn’t have put your job in jeapordy.
