Is anyone else here vegetarian or vegan? I just switched from vegetarian to vegan. I’ve been totally vegetarian since I was…ehh, 6-ish. I was just curious who else eats like the bun-buns.

WOW Vegan-how do you do it? I mean, I don’t think giving up the foods is that hard, but managing to find things to eat-that’s hard!

I’ve been an ovo-lacto vegetarian for 15 years

My sister is now. Except she still drinks milk, which I find to be one of the cruelest practices.

I do not drink milk, or eat cheese, or any other sort of dairy (except eggs since we have our own chickens). Not by choice fully, but because I’m allergic to milk. And no, that does not mean I’m lactose intolerant. I get very itchy when I drink milk. I try not to eat beef and absolutely won’t eat pork. Chicken, turkey and fish are still on the menu unfortunately. Also, I eat buffalo. I really prefer it to beef. I do try to eat meat in limited amounts though, and choose fish from non threatened species. I buy organic and free range when I can.

Edit: And I am lucky for now that my thyroid medication is not the one derived from a pig’s thyroid! I really hope that I never have to go on that one.

About 2 – 3 years ago one of my brothers decided to go vegan (he also eats fish and egg whites) because his cholesterol was very high. Now his cholesterol is much lower than his doctor told him he would be able to get it through diet.  How is that for impressive?

K&K – He eats a lot of Asian, Middle Eastern and Indian food. You just have to learn a lot about grains & beans.

My husband complains when I put dressing on the “bunnies” dinner salad.

We are not vegetarian but, eat vegetarian dishes on a regular basis. Yum!

I was vegetarian years ago.   I tried vegan but it got very difficult to FIND something to eat as someone mentioned in an earlier reply.

So I went back to vegetarian.   Then when my back got bad and I quit work  my ex you had to eat what he bought or starve  He doesn’t have any respect for those different than he.

I became vegatarian again a few months ago.   Actually pesqotarian and ovo lacto vegetarian.   I drink soy milk tho.  I don’t like regular milk. But I eat cheese.

There are several vegetarians here at BB too

I’ve been vegan for 3 years and vegetarian since ’97. I was telling my mother about my new bunny Arduina and how well she does so well with the litter box, she said: “why didn’t you get a cat.. oh wait you wanted a bunny since you both are vegan!” Haha I love it! She eats all my leftovers (no just the raw veggies) and the rest goes to the worms. But yeah, I love to cook, so being vegan is easy. I’ve gotten supper good at ‘veganizing’ recipes… there are also a lot of great vegan blogs too. It is only difficult when I go places, I usually order something vegetarian and say “no cheese or mayo please”.
