        Hi All,

I have a question about types of water bottles. My rabbit drinks fine from a water bottle. I originally had one with the spout that has a little roller ball type at the bottom. It worked great, but was hard to hang from the cage. Just not sturdy and I ended up putting some wire to attach it better and it was just a pain to take off and on when giving clean water.

I found another bottle at Petco which is really sturdy and attaches great to the outside of the cage, but the spout has a different type of mechanism at the bottom of it. It doesn’t leak when it’s just sitting there, but when my rabbit drinks from it, which is often, it ends up leaking all over and leaving a lot of wet area around the bottom of the bottle.

Can anyone recommend a bottle that attaches easily and is sturdy and won’t leak on me?

Thanks for your help with this!

        Regards,

        Pam

Lixit water bottles are my favorite

Maybe you can use your original bottle but make a sturdy holder for it that you can just pull it out from. Like use an empty spring water bottle that’s slightly wider, cut off top and bottom and secure the cylinder to the cage. Then pop the sipper bottle into the cylinder.

Just a thought….does the ball spout from 1st bottle fit onto the 2nd bottle?

I just spent the last five minutes going through several sites I had bookmarked to find the no-drip water bottle I purchased, and I can’t seem to find it.
Sammy never gave up her crock of water to use it, but it looked good anyway, and I had a problem with dripping water bottles for years, so this was worth a try.

I thought I saw it recommended here, too, so if anyone knows which one I mean, please reply. I’ll keep looking.

I think there was a good water bottle on the Drs. Foster and Smith website… It can actually be filled without removing it from the cage. I don’t use it personally, but I know some other members have had great success with it.

Tried doing what you said with the ball spout, but unfortunately it didn’t fit. I was thinking about going to the pet store to see if I could find a ball spout one that might fit this one. Thanks for your suggestions… I may give it a try with the water bottle idea.

that’s the one I am using right now. I do love the way it attaches to the cage and it is really sturdy, just leaks too much when my rabbit drinks from it. Thanks for your reply.
