Umm.. yeah.. so we’re attempting some potty training with the Bella Bunny ….and today presented with something a little strange. I was waiting for her to stop goofin’ around ..dribblin’ pee in a little trail ..and just squat and do the flood… when she decided to leave me a trail of poo pellets. Okay.. either way.. we’re learning where the poo pellets go, so I picked them up with a tissue and got ready to toss them in the potty …when I noticed they were kind of strung together with this LONG THING!! Yikes!

On closer inspection, I figured out that it WAS NOT a worm.. thank goodness! …but it was mucous’y lookin’ ..still possible that it was a stem from a dandelion or parsley treat from earlier… just too squishy lookin’, I guess. Of course, I didn’t take a pic.. I think I should’ve… so I can’t really give a “perfect” description of it.

Any bun savvy folks have a clue? I haven’t seen another like it since, but I’d sure like to have some idea of what it was… eww!

Has she been eating any stringy greens, lick celery? Is she sheddign alot? Could be shed fur that she’s licked up…

No celery… too time consuming for all the salad heads I have here. She doesn’t “seem” to be shedding a lot.. but I’ll pay more attention to that, now. She’s just starting to put her weight back on ..and her rex coat is getting back to normal. We’re still on baby watch for a couple more weeks ..just to be sure. (She was found outside, 3 weeks ago. I’ve had her 2 weeks, in my home. No nesting, no lactating.)

The “long thing” looked more like a squishy parsley or cilantro stem ..maybe the stem off the dandelion leaf… but really squishy or partially digested. It was creepy and slime’y ..sorry…. and looked like a worm, at first glance. Blech…

I was just going to add that. Because she is pregnant, I’d maybe ring the vet on this one. It could be partly because of the meds she’s been on but mucous in the poop needs attention.

Another hour ..and my Vet should be in. This is going to be a loooooong hour. I was up through the night, watching Bella ..watching for more weird poo events. Nothing. Hopefully, it was a fluke.. just some unchewed/undigested food.

Have you ever seen cecals? Sometimes they seem mucusy-what color was the mucus?

As soon as I heard strung together I was thinking-peal necklace poops, they are strung together with fur-often during a molt-but normally dry.

Let us know what the vet says!

It wasn’t mucous.. it “looked mucous’y” …this is why I needed a pic. LOL

The Vet doesn’t seem to think there’s any reason to be alarmed. It hasn’t happened again. She’s not acting weird. Her diet is fine. *sigh of relief*

sounds like a string o’ pearl, to me.

If it hasn’t happened again and she’s going normally, I think it’s a string o pearls also.

The cecals are squishy, odd shaped, smelly, and tend to disappear since the bunny eventually eats them.
