Maddy is 12 weeks old (her ‘owner’ claimed she was 8 weeks, but she’s at least 12), and she’s currently eating alfalfa based pellets and hay, and has started on just one veggie, which is green leaf lettuce, and a tiny banana slice at night which has her medicine hidden in it.

How often can I introduce a new vegetable into her diet? I’d love to just give her a bowl of mixed veggies, but I don’t want to upset her stomach.

Also, at what age can I transition her from alfalfa based pellets and hay, over to timothy based?

This is what I would do – I would introduce her to one new vegetable per week. You’ve started with one and if she is not having problems give her a week and then try another one and see how she does and so on.

I think if you are giving her fresh alfalfa hay then you can start switching soon to timothy pellets – you want to continue her on the grass hays though since she really needs though and needs to get a “taste” for them. And just do a handful of fresh alfalfa hay along with it.
