Flopsys eyes today for some reason have come up very pink around the edges, and when she partly closes her right eye, it seems a little runny and inflamed . Should I take her to the vet? It doesnt look too severe, It only seems to have come up today… Should I leave it and bathe it tonight or take her to the vet? My partner is worried because we gave her some berries this morning and he thinks she is allergic. But I just dont know.  I took some pictures. Any advice would be very helpful. I dont know if its normal or not. Should I take her to the vet?????????

Poor bubby! Edit: If your vet is open this evening then take her in.  Otherwise, just bathe them to give some relief then take her in tomorrow. You can use a wash cloth with tepid water or saturate a cotton wool ball. If you have any saline solution handy, bathe with that. Is she housed with Stu?  How is Flopsy otherwise?

I cannot imagine it’s allergies from the berries. I would watch it and if it doesn’t clear up very soon, take her to the vet.

Flopsy eyes are definitely red- youch!  as Jerseygirl mentioned you can use a warm wet washcloth or cottonball to gently clean the eyes and that can help with external irritation around the eyes since it looks like the eyes are a bit watery in reaction to inflammation.

It looks like both eyes are involved- so that makes injury (bumping into something) less likely on the list or possibilities, but some type of irritant (dust, etc) or infection is still a possibility.

I can not remember- is Flopsy or any other bunny new in the house?- if so, then it is possible it is a contagious condition.  This happens a lot with cats- so I would assume rabbits could have a similiar type of virus/cold that they can pass around.  (but not transmittable to different species).

I would recommend scheduling a vet appt to make sure you are able to get Flopsy in if it does not resolve- and then you can always cancel if they go back to 100% normal.  But you will want to get her in before the weekend if the eyes continue to look so irritated.

You mentioned in the Babies thread that Flopsy’s eyes haven’t worsened (good!) and that Stu helps clean them. Rabbits in pairs are great about doing that. Maybe Stu is doing it too much though and that has caused the redness around Flopsys eyes? They can get too meticulous and over groom. Maybe mention about them being together when she sees the vet. Because you also mentioned a discharge something else must be going too. Hope she improves.

Flopsy went to the vet tonight because of her eye. The vet says it could be conjunctivitis, (hopefully) and gave us a creme that should clear it up in 4 to 5 days. He said if its not clear in about 6 days to take her back to the vet. So she is in her own little house now away from Stu and the babies, so that she can have a good rest, and so that the babies dont catch it either. Jersey, you will be happy to hear that she is definately a girl, and is not pregnant. The vet did the full check for us So its all going to be ok fingers crossed. He said if its not clear in 7 days she has to go back and may have to be treated again.
