I’ve just discovered a bald patch on Peppers left hind leg.  There is no lump, no broken skin and it just looks a little bit red.  I’m just wondering if it is something I should be concerned about.  I actually spotted it about a year ago when she was running about, but I couldn’t find it when I picked her up to examine her.  Then today she was wandering about in front of me and I spotted it again, perhaps this time I found it because it’s bigger.

She has carpet in her pen and hay so I don’t think that there can be something agrivating it.

          About how big is it?

If you notice it getting any bigger or the skin looks really irritated, she should probably see a vet. It might just be a bare spot from sudden shedding or over-grooming, since there’s nothing wrong with the skin.

It sounds like something you should keep an eye on to see if it gets any larger or if the skin begins to look more irritated. Could Pepper be causing it by grooming it? If so, there might be something irritating her skin there, so if it doesn’t seem to be getting any better over time it is probably a good idea to take her to the vet to have a professional look at it.

Thanks, I’ll keep an eye on it.  She isn’t shedding much just now and it’s in an awkward place for her to get to.

Also, keep an eye on her habits and posture to see if the way she is sitting or where she sits etc, may be causing a this.

Well we’ve been watching her closely for a while now and while inspecting her foot to see if they skin had damaged (which it hadn’t) we discovered that her other foot had a bald patch in exactly the same spot.  Perhaps because of the floor she sits on in her pen??  She always has rugs and towels down in her pen but perhaps this isn’t working for her.

I wonder if it isn’t shedding? Is she shedding a lot right now? Sometimes they do have small bare spots while shedding and the skin is pink underneath. Like the others said keep an eye for her behavior and on the spots. If it is shedding you should see fur coming in in the next couple of days.
