I put up ads in the spring. There has been very little vacationing done this summer with the economy being the way it is.
You kinda have to want to do it to play with more animals as there really isn’t any money it. People think you should look after a bunny for much less than $10 a day. By the time you scoop or clean the litter box, sweep up stray poops & hay, wipe up water spills, wash & refill food & water bowls, refill hay racks, & let them out for a reasonable amount of exorcise, your working for peanuts. If you have more than 1 persons pets there you are running a certain amount of risk with illness spreading through air. If they have to run around in the same floor space then it must be separately & disinfected in between. There is also the possibility of them bringing fleas or mites into your home. You have to be prepared for anything, there are a lot of strange people out there. Some peoples rabbits are just ornaments not pets so not tame at all. If they are not altered they will likely make a big mess. People will lie about issues, particularly if they are having trouble finding someone. I’ve been lucky so far & have only met good people doing this.
My second last adoption is a different story though, that guy was so wacked, I consider it a rescue not an adoption. The bunny was healthy & clean, I have to give him that but… He didn’t call to say he was coming & he was hours late so I went out for 2 hours & came home to find several messages on my machine. The last one stated that he left the bunny in a cardboard box in my back yard. There was no box, he didn’t do it but he scared the poop out of me. What a thing to say.
