Did she say how he might have gotten this? I’ve never heard of it.

Let us know what the meds are too – curious about how you treat it as well.

          Continued vibes to little Cotton.

Well this is something rabbits just don’t get.   Cats get it.   It is scabs  may start as a blister or lesion.   The scab may grow like Cottons do.  It doesn’t seem to hurt the cats.   They use prednisone for cats

I picked up oral med for pre prednisone oral so his tummy doens’t get upset and a cream.    HE was on oral anti inflammatory b4.  I believe it was a steroid as well.   Nothing much happened.  OH wait.  That was in feb.

Well if this doens’t work I am going to go the TEchnocare route Dana Krempels informed me of.

I sent pics out to her and to medirabbit.

Who knows Cotton is already in calendars and famous.   He just may become famous as the first bunny to get this ulcer.

My son when he was little got weird things.  Now that he is grown and gone it is Cottons turn to take his place.

Now I am broke the whole month of sept.  Just enuf to pay the bills.  Goodness Cotton.  Well if this clears it up then I am ok about it.

Dang the pics won’t post.  I hit paste and it comes up blank  gee another problem ahhh

I heard from Esther she said she would like permission to use his pic and my name by it for her book

She said she heard of eosinophiliic plaque in rabbits.  I googled it and found a book that has article of a new zealand white that had the granuloma too.   Hmm good to know.

What a way to get famous :~) Well I guess an anti-inflammatory won’t cure it just relieve some of his pain and inflammation. I do understand too that steroids are usually only used in extreme cases as rabbits are very sensitive to steroids. I’ll see if I can find that article as well…might be too scientific for me, but I’m intrigued by this.

                      hmm i found something interesting:

“No one cause has been found for eosinophilic granuloma complex. It has been suggested it is a reaction to flea bite hypersensitivity, food hypersensitivity or inhalant allergy.

The eosinophil’s job is to attack parasites. It is attracted to areas where parasites occur & once there, it will release biochemicals to destroy the parasite. In cats with eosinophilic granuloma complex, eosinophils are called to the site of an allergic response & the biochemicals cause damage to the local collagen.”

That stuff is pretty interesting isn’t it.    I am making a good guess a fire ant may have bitten him.   I remember seeing 3 in his cage after giving him some of the other neighbors roses.  HE had made a noisy run around his cage and when I went to look I saw the 3 I checked and didn’t see any on him but why would he have run and banged around like that if he wasn’t bitten.   I checked for bites but I didnt’ see any.

Then agian it could be something else causing it.    HE hasn’t had fur mites or anything like that.  Sometimes that causes it.

Yeah cats get this.  In rabbits the lady with the book said it is usually seen as a eosiniphilic plaque.   We learn new stuff about rabbit med and stuff every day I tell you.

Poor Boo.  HE is going to hate me by tuesday.

Oh poor Cotton! I’m sure he wasn’t very happy that you were holding him and trying to take photos of his lip! Well I hope the diagnosis is correct and the meds resolve his problem! Keep us updated.

And Cotton, you’re not supposed to eat the cream .

NO that can’t be too comfy .     The scab on the right in the picture I got the scissors and cut the hanging piece off.   I took the whole thing off so the cream can get under there.   The other 2 I left I didn’t want to make him bleed  poor fellow

Yeah he is a hating me right now.   Catch him 2x in the morning for pre med med  15 minutes later the actual med and the cream .  Then again in the afternoon for a repeat.

I set the timer on a little 1 hr timer thingy.    I hope once this is over he doesn’t associate that timer going off with getting meds.  I use it when I cook sometimes.

Sometimes these ulcers are recurring too.   Gosh I hope these things won’ t come back again

They’re pretty smart, if they know the squeak of the refridgerator door means dinner, I’m sure he’ll know what that alarm means in a short while. Poor Cotton, I hope all the meds work out for you.

Yeah I suppose he will.   By tonite.

He has been in  his house the whole day .     He is leary of coming out and getting stuff done to him.    Once I get tonite’s treatments done he will come out and play.     He is funny that way

OH he has a good appetite now tho.  Those steroids do that.    And make him a little grumpy too probably like they do in people.  HE done ate all the hay I put in there.  HE is going tohave to come out to eat the rest.

Oh Cotton Boo – that looks better, but what a miserable sore.

I’m sure it will be better soon. (I had an allergic reaction to a new lipstick last weekend and got a sore above my lip. It scabbed and just healed with my cream med. Tell Cotton we can compare our boo boos.)

I have something like rosacea or a dermatitis on my cheeks sometimes.  for months it looked like I had put on waaaaay too much rouge on my cheeks and I had no make up on at all.

cWell my gp dr said use nivea q10  uh huh   didn’t help much .  I found a prosacea at the pharmacy over the counter stuff.   Works great. Every now n then when the redness or itchiness starts up I put some on and the next day woweee  All gone

I have a dilema.   The vets didn’t give me enuf of the pre med  med.   I called my bro in law he is a Dr.  to be sure I was giving the correct dose and I was.   I have enuf for the morning so I if I dont’ have enuf for tomorrow nite I will jsut put the cream on and boogy on down to the vets monday morning on my 3 wheel for more

Then I have to boogy back there on 3 wheels tuesday afternoon for his check up.   Iam almost leary to think it but from what I can tell he looks a bit better.   We may  just get pink lip yet.  Whoooohoooo
