Which toys should I get my rabbits? I want them to have plenty of fun, entertaining toys that they can play with for the time I’m away from the house. Which toys do you guys use for your rabbits? Which toys are particular hits in your “bun family”? What are some cool, entertaining toys that I can make at home?

I’m kind of on a budget, so cheap(er) things are greatly appreciated!!  Thanks in advance guys – you’re so helpful!!!

My buns love phone books, mason jar rings, crinkled up paper balls, dig boxes.

My monkey loves her willow basket filled with shredded paper for digging in. Also likes the occasional roll of toilet paper to shred lol.

For homemade toys, checkout our Toy Test section.   As far as store bought, willow is a  big chew toy favorite.

Rucy also used to really like the diggy box – a cheap homemade activity toy!

They also went nutso for the grass ball.(but that is from our store) I put treats and hay in there and it turns them into overdrive

You can do a cheaper version expendable version with a paper bag – put treats, greens and hay in there, poke a few holes and tie the bag with some sisal, and your good to go!

BB, thanks for posting those videos again I hadn’t seen the diggy one and not sure about the other. Was great to them – especially Rucy – having fun!

Cardboard boxes (put some together with more openings!) toilet paper rolls (stuff em with hay), phonebooks (no assembly required), blankies, shredded paper, slinkies, anything that makes noise (Bells on strings).

Also if you want entertainment while your out, leave a TV or radio on for them

Rucy the snow plough! The diggy box video has a Christmas quality about it.
I have to return the ‘messy’ toys to my rabbits that i had confiscated a while ago when things got really out of hand… thank you BB for reminding me of the fun they can have with such simple things!

Petzy – yeah, the one thing about the diggy box is it’s messy and those little pieces stick to the bottom of your socks or shoes and I’d find them all over the house. LOL. But I chose to exclude a “lip” on the box, which may have helped keep some of that contained, because she really did like “Snow Plowing” the paper onto the wooded floor. I have a shop vac though that’s hanging up on the wall nearby (can sort of see in some of the video) so it’s a quick clean-up.

I’m trying to figure  out what perks Vivian’s interest.  She approaches things much differently than Rucy did.  Plus, Jack loves to boss her around so anytime i give  her something to mess with he has push her aside and say “I’ts mine first,  for ME ME!”.  The other day, I gave her a bowl full of Oxbow Botanical hay with a treat hidden inside to see if she would dig at it (as she hasn’t figured out the grass ball toss method yet).   Well, Jack, like a bully  in the sandbox, comes over, pushes her aside, digs all of the hay out of the bowl, shoves the bowl over and then runs away.   STINKER!    But I may bring out the diggy box again to see what Vivian thinks about it as Jack was never too too interested – he could never figure out what the big deal was was about the diggy box.  He’d come over and check it out, but would leave Rucy  to her “redecorating”.

Bella loves the large Chewbular (sp?) Tubes they sell at Petco, $5.99 I think. TP/PT tubes are a big hit too. I filled one with hay and she really enjoyed chewing and getting a reward.
