hi everyone! I’ve been a member for several months (since I got my first bunny
, and i just started a website that I hope can be helpful both to bunny rescues and to anyone who might like to help bunny causes but has limited time and/or transportation for this.
it’s called ifihadahammer.org, and it focuses on online volunteering, although it also covers requests for non-monetary material resources and for on-site volunteers. If you’re a shelter and you could use some help keeping your website up to date, or editing your newsletter, etc., feel free to go on and post a request for assistance, or browse the volunteer services already offered by members. If, like me, you’re a bunny lover without a car and with full-time work obligations who still wants to help, you can browse opportunities and/or post what you might be able to help with (e.g., editing and uploading photos for Petfinder, etc.).
I got the idea largely from my own experience taking photos of new bunnies and hamsters for an understaffed local rescue (where I got some of my own furries from), editing them on Picasa, and then posting them on Petfinder and the rescue’s website. It’s just a few hours a month, but it’s a really fun way to get involved in improving the lives of bunnies even though I’m not able to visit the shelter regularly (not having a car).
Anyway, please feel free to check it out and take advantage if you could benefit from this! (It’s completely free.) http://www.ifihadahammer.org. Let me know if you have any questions.
thanks and take care,
Meg
