I got timothy hay from a local farm for $20 a bail. It was so, so, so nice. Each blade is long, big and it smells so delicious and sweet. Even *I* wanted to eat this bail of hay compared to the one I got from the pet store. Chloe gobbled them up like they’re sugar (but really, it’s just hay!) It even has the little flower at the top that’s like wheat flower….so, so fresh and CHEAP! I think this bail will last me a year (no kidding!).

My bunnies love the farm fresh hay as well I think you’ll find that the look of the hay varies throughout the seasons, but my bunnies really like it all the time. Once we got a bale that was more dried and brownish than green-ish, and I think that was one of their favorite bales, even though it didn’t look as good to me as the green ones did.

The only thing I would recommend with the baled hays is to pick them apart a bit before you give them to the bunnies. Because its pulled fresh from the ground you might find an occasional stone, or weed that needs to be pulled out.

Katie, I’m in CA and got it at a local farm. Maybe you can try to google search for a farm near you and call to see if they have timothy hay?

And pardon me for thinking it’s “bail” instead of “bale” LOL!
