Well…a play house or kiddy gym really. Similar to this pic.

I got it 2nd hand at a charity store. I reckon they retail new upward of $150 but I paid $50. Probably lot $$ for bunny stuff but I figure it supports the charity so….at least that’s how I justified it. I was with my 3 yr old nephew who had fun demolishing it with me to fit it in the car. All the ladies in the store kept saying how lucky he was – assuming the cubby was for him.
We had to keep it a secret – hehe! I did feel a bit guilty though, depriving some other kid of a affordable play house.
The one I got a is bit more shabby, I think it adds character and the scratches will give make it more non slip. It has a roof & the slide is reversible so can be stairs also. It has 2 shelves inside too. I plan to use it as a hay bay of sorts. They like to eat it off the floor and I’m having trouble keeping the mess contained so hopefully this help. I just made them a 4 box cardboard cubby this week but I’m sure it’d be in ruins before too long. I’ll take that out and give them this instead. Hope they approve. ![]()
Can’t wait to hear what they think!!!! I’ve seen similar things at garage sales and wondered..hmmmmmmm?? I keep talking myself out by thinking it may be too slippery!!!! But boy I’m tempted!!! So if yours like it, I may have to snag the next one I see!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cool! You should attach some lengths of carpet to the inside platform and the slide so they can get in and out easily… Let us know how they like it!
Do you think it was a bit over the top – getting such a thing for rabbits?!!
I think they’ll mostly just hang out in the bottom part and maybe jump onto the levels. They’re both climbers.
Hopefully they’ll use… you know how those furry rascals are, you never know what they’ll like.
Naaa I dont’ think it is over the top. Anything for our buns happiness
I think that Thumper or Tucker would LOVE something like this! I can see them hopping up and down it..especially if the slide could be stairs! Drue would just sleep in the bottom LOL…but that’s Drue..it’s what he does! hehe
We need to see pics of them in it!!! ![]()
Won’t they eat it?
I think, any rabbit would love that thing! how big is it? I want to see one of yours actually slip down that slide!!!
That’s so cool! I used to have one when I was really little, though I outgrew it pretty quickly. It kind of reminds me of a Fischer Price doll house I used to have that I would put our Australian parakeets and cockatiels in for play time. I don’t know how much the birds actually liked it, but at least they were getting attention.
wow, Jersey and Rumball have their own “bunny mansion”! Lucky bunnies!
Good idea! Oh I bet they’ll love that. And no I dont think its too over the top (for bunny slaves), you know 90% of us want one now lol. If only I could get rid of my dresser, id get them one and put it there. ![]()

I agree! Nothing is too good for our bunnies!!! I’m always on the lookout for new things to buy my buns!!!
looks like that could be fun for buns.
You could maybe get some safety grip tape to put on the stairs and/or shelves so the bunnies can more easily
use it.

Won’t they eat it?
I did wonder but the edges are so round I don’t think they could gain purchase with their teeth. They are not great plastic chewers, both don’t chew their litter boxes so I’m hoping they’ll leave this alone.
I’m yet to assemble it and see whether it passes inspection. Def will post pics, expect to see poop!
Lol jersey your so funny! Buying a playhouse for your buns…. but now I want one too. That would be just like me to buy something like that on impulse. Just today I bought some balsa wood for the buns, I have yet to give it to them.
You definately have to update us on how the bunnies like it, I am dying to know.
Well? well? Pix?????
Actually, I’m so lazy that last night I googled Mansions so I could photoshop your bunnies’ faces onto two windows, but the pictures were so lousy that it would have taken hours and it was my bedtime so…..zzzz……imagine it, OK?
haha! A Mansion? Really?……….I can just imagine following them from floor to floor with my little red dustpan & broom. I’d have to hire servants.
I have pics of just the play house thingy minus the buns(
). I got video of them but I’m having trouble at mo. It was really low light and looks crappy. I’ll try get better pics of them with it in the morning. It looks like a McDonalds playground! lol They’re curious enough about it…a bit overwhelmed I guess, with this contraption in the space. They did run in and out the bottom part a few times but haven’t discovered how to jump up yet. I put Jersey up there and she did try out the bridge. Truthfully, they were more interested in their evening pellets. After those, Rumball retreated to the cardboard cubby and Jersey went and did some terri-poops in the living room.
So I’ll let them suss it out at their own pace.
I put it this way first, stairs became a bridge Then turned it round. Not sure which way to have it yet.
I promise, pics soon of the the buns+house Gotta call it a day for now…
Oh MY!!!!! That castle is AWESOME!!!!!!! I am going garage sale shopping this weekend with the sole purpose of looking for one of those. I think bunnies everywhere should have one to play with ![]()
So…..ahem, it’s been near 2 weeks since I got this thingo and well it’s pretty well been snubbed. Not the hit I thought it would be. Today, the buns were let outside after been kept in for 2 days due to weather, so today, they decided it was “alright i guess”. I put it outside fairly quickly as when it was in their bunny space, they’d just go in the bottom part and pee. *SIGH*
I have a few pics from today. They mainly were running about the bottom of it but I actually put Jersey on it to encourage her more. So there’s more pics of Jers but I’m not playing favourites I promise! I also have some true “watching grass grow” vids that I’ll add soon. So anyone considering getting something like this – don’t spend too many $$! The upside for me is my 1yr old nephew will probably enjoy it. Maybe I need to make it more interesting for the buns (like edible!).
“Rumballo, Rumballo – where for art thou Rumballo?”
Here’s Rumballo!
The crappy vids. s392.photobucket.com/albums/pp1/dohraime/
Of course, as soon as I stopped recording, Rumball started doing some great circle work. This is all I got when I hit record again.
s392.photobucket.com/albums/pp1/dohraime/ Oh well, It was nice to see him really moving.
Are you kidding? Those were action packed! They do not qualify for the “Watching Grass Grow” brand.
And what was that bird noise that made Jersey run? It sounded like Godzilla.
Very cute. Nice to see them interacting. I liked when Jersey found the smallest space behind Rumball to sit.
wow lucky bunbuns!
JERS!! What a FANTASTIC idea!!! I know most new toys get snubbed at first-I bet they’ll be on it like flies to stink in no time!
WOW
*starts looking on kijiji for similar items*
Those pics are great! I stole one for my desktop
I’ll be searching kijiji when I get some $ for one of those…
Kate that is so awesome! Love the pictures!!!!!!! Jersey looks so playful sitting up on the top of the slide!
I have been searching for one of those! Those are cute!
That looks so cute, but I remember having things like that for my kids…the slipperiness and the possibility of the bunnies falling into a crack between the joints of the play gym are the only things that worry me. But hey, if they love it, who am I to judge? ^_^
Mimzy has been using the ramp in his cage as a slide lately, maybe I should get him one of those? (pictures broken bunny legs and thinks the better of it)
Rumballo? lolz….That is so adorable! xD
MM, your concerns are valid. I think if I keep it for them I’ll add something to cover the shelves and ramp as the others suggested. The haven’t jumped up on it independantly yet. I repeat – to those considering getting something like this – be prepared for your buns not to take to it.
In the background of the photos you may be able to see a sort of transportable building. It has become a junk room – full of furniture, boxes and general crap! They spent a fair bit of time climbing around in there. So I thought they’d take to this playhouse but they prefer climbing onto things where they shouldn’t.
looks kinda slippery
Anything that I add that is big and new my bunnies ignore for the first few days. Maybe your guys just need some encouragment?? I usually trail their pellets through, over, and ontop of any new toy that they seem unsure of…. usually that works and after that they are all over it!! Maybe some treats would help??
