Well… Cottons results came in today.  He has 5 organisms settled in his lip that respond to Baytril.

I gave him his first shot of Baytril and it went well.   I have to do this for 6 more days at home now.  This should take care of it.  He had gotten very active after the first 2 courses.  XHopefully this will clear it up once n for all.

I’m glad you had it checked out – it sounds like that could have been pretty bad if you hadn’t gotten him the Baytril. Does Cotton take his Baytril easily? Or does he spit it all over like mine do?

Ew, shots! That was my fun last week. I hope you and Cotton do better than I did! ^_^
Isn’t it a relief though to have it diagnosed and a solution found? How wonderful!

Very interesting! Did the vet say how he developed this? That’s great it is responding to baytril.

I’d be interested in how he developed this too. Glad little Cotton is doing better.

I can’t recall any wound on his  lip to start this problem .  When I first noticed it it looked like it does now.

Last nite I went to bed thinking about it.   Possibly an ant bit him .   I fed him some roses from the neighbor and didn’t realize there were those big ants in there .   I heard  him bangin around in his house and went to look I killed all the ants 3 of them and felt around for ant bites but didn’t feel any,

However my other tought and probably the cause is fish.  I would take him  to the dock on his harness and hubby had some fish lying around.  Cotton got curious and went to smell it.  I watched and never saw him get that close tho.  Not that I recall anyways.   Though I really think it was a scratch from the fish fins.  Perhaps when I wasn’t looking.  If so tho he would have  jumped and ran.  Which he never did.

Who knows.      I did notice on her report he has staph as well that settled in his lip there.

His Dr. decided on shots cuz the oral stuff didn’t finish it off.  This is stronger so hopefully this works.  If not she  will consult with another vet.

Staph tho I would think fish a likely cause.  Or a bite from Ruby I missed.

Mimz  Mum  I left a response on your post about no more shots.   Yep our turn.

The shots were 92.00   I only had 40 to spare.   The office person spoke with the vet and it became half price 50.00 there abouts.  That is so sweet of her

I am going to have to send her a thank you card and an email.

Cottondoens’t like the shots.    Can;t blame him.   He twitched yesterday when I inserted the needle.  I felt bad.  I pressed the syrum in quick but as I do I pull out the needle.  Only a little bit came out tho.   I have to be careful with that.

I will be glad when this is over.

Cotton probably is more sensitive where the shots are being administered than Mimzy was. He would just sit there and wait while hubby gave him his injections. I was a nervous wreck though. 0_o
Where did the vet tell you to put the shots? Is it in the space behind the shoulder blades? That’s where Mimzy’s were. He has a lot of extra skin there.
Poor Cotton and poor you! Many continued healing vibes to you!

The vet said there is more loose skin on the sides.  So I alternate sides.  Also I do some of them on the rump area too.  Since it has gotten easier.

Cotton is probably a little sore tho.  I know I get sore from my allergy shots 4 of them twice a week.  Thats why I try to move them around.

Ouchie…fanny shots. >.< I would be a little upset too if I got those. (Only once have I had to endure the indignity, I had bronchitis chronically when a teen and one year my doc had enough of it and just poked me with one of those nasty derriere busters…I could barely drive home in my stick shift Mustang because it was my clutch leg!)
I forgot that you are giving those once a day. Mimzy just had to be injected every three days, so he had some time in between each dose to get over it.
Ah well…your round of treatments won’t last as long. You’re lucky there!
