I have been scouring the bid website.   I did not check the shipping and handling these last 2 times.    All my item winnings b4 was free S&H

Well doggone I get an email stating the S&H is 45.00.   OH MY GOSH  the item is 2.99 that was my winning bid

But the S&H oh my.  I want to back out of the deal.  I emailed the company about it.     Another bid I won from the same company 2 items and they are charging me 2 seperate S&H instead of one.  YIKES I emailed about that hopefully they S&H will go down.  45.00 is a lot for a hip skirt.   Man oh man. It can’t be that heavy teheee.

I be much more careful next time I tell you what.

Just wanted to grype. I won’t be getting those items.  It will give me a bad name and I will be reported.  Don’t like that however on the other 6 items I bid and won I paid right away  hopefully that will count for something.

You really need to watch the shipping charges and check them before ordering anything. I saw a listing for an item yesterday and the shipping on it was – are you ready for this – $999. Yep, almost a grand for shipping. Just insane.

That is ridiculous! And they didn’t list the shipping anywhere? That is so awful! I have seen that on some items, the shipping seems so high, that must be how they recoup money that they lose on lower bids…

Yeah I browse around the French Horn stuff just for fun and a lot of times these companies in China will list a $5000 horn for $100 bucks and you are thinking OMG what a DEAL. Well…then you go and look at the shipping and you figure out where the other $4900 bucks went to. You have to be very careful with bid sites because there are always people trying to scam others.

I hate that!  Well, if they give you bad feedback I think you can make a note regarding it…I believe you can on ebay anyway..I remember looking at feedback from some sellers and there was little notes under the bad feedback…so you could always note that they were trying to charge 45.00 for S&H!

Someone once explained to me that people up the S&H so they don’t have to pay so much % wise to the site their selling on. Like on ebay, I think ebay collects some of the sale? Can’t remember if that’s right.

Yes I believe that’s how it works.

BT, I’m not sure how easily you’ll be able to get out of the bids. I think it depends on if the shipping charges were displayed on the listing. When you bid on something you’re entering into a legally binding contract, and unless all the information wasn’t available at the time I’m not sure what the consequences are if you try and back out. It might be as simple as a black mark on your record with the site but I’d guess if the seller really wanted to they could take you to court over nonpayment of funds and breach of contract. That’s why it’s really, really important to read over all the details before placing a bid!

I recently had a problem with some rings from Ebay that were fake, had to go through the dispute process and it’s not fun.

Whoa  4,900  S&H  that sure sounds like a scam.    Hmm you are right I never thought of them scamming so they don’t have to pay as high a percentage to ebay.

Glad to know I can put down why I backed out of my bids.  The company is in India.   I sent them an email that I was retracting my bid and why.  Do you know I have not gotten 1 response and I emailed them twice.  Hmpf,

OH Annette having to go thru that.   Shame on them people.

There probably is that sort of scam about. With the ebay S&H trick, it’s not so much of a scam as a way to evade having to give over your sale $’s. So often the S&H reflects the true value of the item. Say like a book that someone wins with a $5 bid and the S+H is $45 – and it’s reasonable that the book is worth about $45-50 anyway – or at least what the seller was hoping to get for it.

I was ordering middle east dance costumes . The hip wrap and the like .    I went to the craft store yesterday and got the stuff I needed.  All under 45.00  OH and the 31.00  so the total S&H was  76.00   I say the craft store is a better deal.

Yeah that makes sense about the s&h reflecting the value of the item.  The items show as .99   I just avoid that particular sellers stuff.  Other sellers aren’t so bad they are in China and the S&H isn’t that bad there.

Hmm wonder if China is putting lead in the stuff I am ordering.  lol.  Their ingredient in the pet food killed our pets.  Their lead in kids toys is too high.   Trying to give us lead poisoning they are.     Just kidding.

you definitely have to be careful with stuff like this… it should be against the rules to charge more for shipping than the product itself cost. Or maybe it should be against the rules to charge more than twice the cost of the product as shipping. They’re trying to trick people… that’s why no one else bid, you have to pay attention.
