Okay so Chubs recently went on a little adventure! Me and my boyfriend (who live together and adopted Chubs together) were planning on doing a little traveling. I was going home to see my family (in Montana and we live in Minnesota) and Kc was going home to see his family in South Dakota. His house is about 7 hours away and mine is about 15. The original plan was to leave Chubs here with a bunny sitter and a very detailed bunny sitter guide. BUT even though we found a couple wonderful people who were willing to care for him…we just couldn’t leave him with someone we didn’t know well. What can I say? We are new, obsessed bunny parents who worry! Anyways…the plan changed to Chubs going with and staying at Kc’s parent’s house with him (during the 3 weeks of our trip).

It was impossible for me to take him as my step-dad is very allergic and the fact that we were traveling once I arrived as well, to Oregon. Anyways, we left the entire back seat for Chub’s cage-made sure the car was nice and cool, used towels to keep the sun completely off of him, and put a nice cold water bottle in there for him to lay against if he did get warm. We used his full cage for the trip as it was longer and he would need it over the course of the visit anyway. He was very good. Annoyed at first because he was locked in (and we never lock him in at home), but he calmed down and eventually just layed down and patiently waited until he could be let out.

After getting there, we got him set up. He had a bedroom to roam free in when he couldn’t be supervised and an entire down stairs to roam in when he could be. Kc has a 14 year old dog who was also around but seemed only interested that there was a strange creature in her house, and not at all agressive or rude. We brought many of his things (wicker basket, chew block, cage, blanket…) so he would feel at home. He did fine. He made friends with Kc’s parents (who were completely charmed by him by the time we left). He explored the down stairs and even followed his mom up the stairs once. He ate okay. He was okay.

Then we came home yesterday and ever since we let him out here, he has been the HAPPIEST bunny in the world! He has been zooming and binkying since we opened the cage door. He is eating like a bunny who’s been starved! (He’s always been and excited eater when it comes to veggies and gobbles down whatever ones we give him the second we give them…but he had taken to nibbling through out the day at Kc’s.) Now he is gobbling veggies, flopping, exploring every space and being incredibly cuddly with us. Haha. It’s been wonderful to watch, especially considering that I missed him like crazy while I was gone!

Long, long story with nothing too exciting or crazy involved but…had to spill to other bunny people who might appreciate the lightness I’m feeling from watching him all day today! Oh and tonight he was playing with his bag (just a plastic bag that he loves) and he accidently hopped through the handle so it was caught around him like a cape as he went zooming around the room. I WISH I had gotten it on film but it happened to quick! I love being a bunny mom!

Oh and one more thing, we’re seriously considering getting a friend for him…more to come on that!
