So tonight I decided to let Bun have the run of my room again and see how she would do, and this time I didn’t block off under my bed, since there isnt anything under it there wasn’t a point really unless I couldn’t catch her later.

So as I am watching her, she is rubbing her chin on my music stand legs, my computer chair legs, my dresser…just a lot of things. Is this marking like a cat does? What is she doing?

And I would like to say that it was a terrible idea letting her go under my bed. I see little bun poops all under it now.

Poor Lintini! I would say, don’t freak out over the poops, and don’t decide it’s a terrible idea. Buns poop to mark their territory, so since she was in new territory, OF COURSE she had to tell EVERYBODY it is now hers, Mom! Just vacuum them up, and probably in a day or two, she won’t feel the need to do it, anymore.

The chin-marking is the same idea. Buns have a scent-gland under their chins that only they can smell–it won’t destroy your belongings, and you’ll never smell it. It’s their way of saying, “yep, this is mine too. And this. And this! And YOU!” (My buns mark me, too!) Marking most frequently occurs when a bun is in a new area, or when another rabbit has been around (so they’ll have to RE-mark to re-establish that that area belongs to them!). Although some buns mark everything repeatedly just for fun. Again, nothing to worry about!

          You’re doing fine!

Alright I figured that’s what it was, it was pretty cute. I’m not that mad about the poops, it was more of a ughh bun really?!!? Thank you

Yep – she’s claiming new territory.  The pooping will likely taper off.

Tonight as you said Wendyzski, went a lot better. A lot less poop than usual when I sectioned her off before. She really is enjoying going under the bed…I hate to think what she’s done under there lol. All I see is this little brown nose looking at me! I’ll lift up the mattress in the morning and see the poop damage then lol.

Both of the buns living with me LOVE going under my bed. My sister asked me why and this is how I explained it to her. I equated it with a burrow or a den. They probably just feel really safe under there (considering the dog can’t bug them when they are under there)…

Yes! She is having a blast now that I allow her to go under the bed and dresser, she zooms from place to place and will do a binky in between then zip back under lol.

we recently got a bed frame but the material on the bottom of our box spring is ripped so it serves as a bunny hammock now. My buns love going under there plus its really cold under there as most of the air from the vent flows under there

Haha. Our dog used to do that to my parents bed.

My buns have always loved going under the bed. The problem is that they don’t love coming out from under the bed. Like for 4 hours.
I usually have it off limits since there isn’t much pooping, but I see Sammy lying down up against the wall and say “ahhhhhh. Zzzzzzzzz.”

I think Spockie may have reincarnated….she and he do very similar things….
