        Hi!

Gosh, there’s a lot of new people here, now, and I’m WAY out of the loop!

So, last month I started volunteering at the shelter I adopted my Lizzy from, Zooh Corner Rabbit Rescue.  The shelter itself is based at a Humane Society that threatens to boot the rabbits out.  And the shelter’s thousands of dollars in debt to the vet (although we’ve almost paid it all off–yay!).  And you know how I like to take pictures, so I decreed myself renovator of the Petfinder within a week of being there.  So I’ve been madly trying to photograph and re-write bunny descriptions!

And there were these silly PINK (ok, peach, but still!) harlequin brothers who had been there for almost TWO YEARS and STILL didn’t have hardcore shelter-syndrome, and would crawl all over me to try to get out-time, so what could I do???  I adopted them.  Now I am OFFICIALLY OUT OF ROOM.  There is NO MORE ROOM AT THE INN!  If I find anybunny else, I’m closing my eyes and holding my breath until somebody else takes them to the shelter, ’cause I can’t save ANY MORE!

Anyway, their original names were Spumoni (with the dark patch over the eye) and Confetti (with the speckled fur).  These names were a bit too long, so I started calling them the Gelatto Twins (meaning, “Spumoni?  What the heck is Spumoni?  Is that like Gelatto or something????”), and when I adopted them, I blended that with some Italian Mafia (thank you Beka, who’s ONLY Facebook updates are about Mafia Wars!), and some Harry Potter, and got:

Spumoni “Fred the Fuzz” Gelatto—and—-Confetti “Georgie-Porgie” Gelatto

And here they are!  (They live in the bedroom so far.  Hoping they can move into the living room next door to Lizzy and Robbie soon.)

OK….you have just floored me with this news! Out of control!  How do you leave home with so many gorgeous bunnies about?
            Well Congratulations!
Gotta ask – how’s Little? Were she and Thumper able to meet/bond etc?

OMG, Kate! Little is SATAN’S HANDMAIDEN!

Little was living FLUSH with me! Toys and goodies and out-time and nommies and everything a little demon-creature who’s more stretchy-monkey-vermin than rabbit could WANT! And she HATED ME! I told her, “look, you Little Vermin, bunnies LOVE ME!”, and she said, “%^&* you, I don’t! Come here and I’ll take your FACE off!” She’d attack me for fun, and if Lizzy or Robbie got so much as a SNIFF of her on a piece of clothing, they’d try to kill me to get at her! And then I moved them all into the same room, and it was like watching a Godzilla movie, except with bunnies. Little is BAD!

And I thought, oh, this is going to be bad. ‘Cause I sort of have half a clue, and I’m immune to having my veins opened by a demon-rabbit, and my poor BF is afraid of being bit.

But get this, gave her to him, and she BEGS HIM TO PET HER! Introduced her to Thumper through the bars of the pen–she IMMEDIATELY licked all over Thumper! MADLY in love with both of them! (Even though it’s 20 degrees hotter there, and BF doesn’t stock treats, and his idea of cleaning…well, let’s just say HE visits HERE more than I visit THERE! Little is UNGRATEFUL! Bad thing…)

And I thought, she hates me. This little fiend personally HATES me! And I was all sad. And then BF came up here on Monday to visit, and his sister stopped by to check on Thumper and Little, and immediately texted BF…’Had anyone ever TOLD Little she’s a prey-animal, ’cause I don’t think she gets it. Wanna trade her for my Boxer?! She’d make a better guard-dog. Also, she tried to kill me 3 times.’

So it’s not just me. Apparently, I was MEANT to save Little for Thumper and BF, because they are the only creatures in the universe that she likes! BF didn’t even have to work to bond them.

*Sigh* He gets it all easy! I’m the one that had my veins opened and molten feces flung on my walls!
              *Pouts*

(Kate–piccies on Facebook, if you get an account! Hint, hint! Also, many piccies of my cute shelter buns! At least go to http://www.mybunny.org, and from there go to Petfinder, and look for Rowan & Radcliffe. Antisocial, but GORGEOUS! You’ll appreciate them!)

                LOL!
Ah well, maybe Little came along to teach some more things about bunnies. Sounds like she just doesn’t like females. Bet the BF finds it all amusing. Happy to hear she found her place though.

I’ve actually already checked out some of the buns at the site. Saw many of Rowans offspring (lovely they were) but not herself. Will have to go back soon and look harder. I’m a bit bunnied out today – have view couple vids that have left me overwhelmed.

Antisocial, but GORGEOUS! You’ll appreciate them!

                What are you saying…? lol

I was thinking it might be an anti-girl thing. But she hated Robbie, too… Who knows. She and BF and Thumper are happy, so it’s all good.

Yeah, poor Rowan apparently was the sweetest thing in the world when she came in March 2008, with a litter of 3-4 month olds. And then 3 days later, gave birth to another litter. So Zooh is filled with her offspring. And they’ve never known anything but the shelter, so they’re not really socialized. And she’s had a hard life, so she’s no walk-in-the-park anymore, either. But she’s BEAUTIFUL! Big girl, lovely deer-shaped head with a white snip on her nose, and HUGE ears! Trully handsome… She’s bonded with her son Radcliffe, who has Frankie-like ears, and is a really pretty banded-harlequin. They just need a real bunny-person to adopt them, and in 6 months, they’d be fine. But they’re going to be work, so they’re still there…sad.

The only people who seem to adopt from Zooh are the volunteers. And we’re all out of room. Need to find a way to get more outsiders INTO the shelter…thus my push to re-do the Petfinder pics and descriptions. But it doesn’t really seem like enough…

Oh my gosh – they are stunning! Congratulations to you and to them for finding a forever home.

I’m familiar with Zooh Corner – I think Alex is the name of the founder – an excellent organization :~)

Hey LightChick – we can always count on you for some good stories!!!
I also take photos for my shelters web-site. it is tough to be there with all of the wonderful bunnies, some have been there for 3 & 4 years.
It is awesome how fast BB has grown.
Glad to hear you and your brood are doing well!
