        Hi all!

As some of you know, Stu went off to the vet this morning to have the big SNIP!

He loved the car ride there, and got LOTS of attention!!!

When we got to the Vet, I filled out all the forms, and handed him to the Nurse… and as I was walking out the door, the Vet stopped me and told me there was going to be a bit of a problem!

Because Stu doesnt have any boy bits!

        BECAUSE STU IS A GIRL!

So Stu cant have an operation today, because the vet is not experienced in female rabbit desexing………. But he is still getting his nails clipped…. oops, I mean she……..

Really cant believe this because we adopted a girl bunny half a week ago and have been keeping them apart (even though they get along great) because we were worried they might make babies!!!! Poor Stu!!!!

That seems to be a common story with bunnies.  Are you going to change or modify Stu’s name?  some people do and some people don’t.

Well at least Stu has a nice outing, plenty of attention and a manicure and pedicure!

hehe! Yeah, it is common! Was your vet absolutely positive Stu is female? It might be that the testes have not descended yet – did they check the genitals to see it’s definately a female? You may want to get Flopsy sexed also – she may turn out to be a he! If you have friends with rabbits, ask who they go to. I’m also happy to ask my vet if she knows of any rabbit vets on your side of town.

There have been several bunnies here that were not sexed right at first. This vet may be able to recommend a colleague since they can’t do the spay. Also you can try the House Rabbit Society website http://www.rabbit.org, to see a list of recommended vets who specialize in bunnies. Just enter your zip code for the nearest one.

Stu’s not a bad name for a girl, really. Maybe Stuey is a bit more feminine.

Whoops :~) Can the vet recommend you to another vet to spay her?

LOL My vet assured me I had a female for weeks and then shortly before surgery there were 2 bits there that didn’t belong! How old is “stu”? I would still use caution if he/she is under 6 months old… maybe change the name to Stella (kinda close…) =)

Stu is 7 months old, as far as we can tell. we were told he was born on the 27th of december, but who knows cause he is a rescue bunny.
Thanks for your advice meg, we will certainly keep an eye on her to make sure nothing pops out. lol

i’ll go back to check Fluffy again. he seems a real he, as not a girl is that naughty like him.
Fluffy was born at X-mas, as i was told, 2 days older than Stu. but,yes who kinows, he’s a rescue too.

I rescued a bunny and didn’t know what gender it was so just called it Thumper.  One day I picked Thumper up and thought I felt a little something, so figured he was a boy.  I thought to myself, YAY a male just like the real Thumper!  Went to the vet who had to blow the fur away from Thumper’s genital area for like 3 minutes before finding… a vagina.  I had written “male” on the questionaire!  The vet pointed it out so I would no longer be confused lol.  Still not sure what I felt, perhaps they were simply sticky stool.

It’s hard to know with all that fur down there!
