I know we have a lot of folks here who have piggies (guinea pigs)…is anyone planning on seeing this new Disney Pixar movie called G-Force that stars a bunch of little ‘spy piggies’?

I’m not big on them myself, but it looks cute. ^_^ Kind if like Cats & Dogs…except with guinea pigs.

It does look cute, I wont be seeing it though, not too interested. I have two rescued Guinea Pig’s myself, Henry and Mowgli. I worry that after this movie comes out kids are going to be convincing their parents to buy them a “G-Force” pig. They likely will not research properly and find out the hard way how high maintenance they are if you want to care for them properly. Or the piggie will suffer from inadequate care. I’m sure many more will end up in shelters and rescues. I’ve already seen an increase just from the bad economy.

By no means am I judging anyone who wants to see it; just voicing my concern…
but perhaps I’m being too negative.

I’ll definitely see it, but will probably wait until I can rent it. I’m just too cheap to pay theater ticket prices. (Except, of course, for Harry Potter and Twilight — took the whole family to the midnight showing of “Half-Blood Prince.”)

I saw the trailer on-line – not knowing anything about the movie. I laughed pretty hard.

But, since there is not much I like better that cuddling up with my sweetie & watching movies at home – I too, will be renting it.

I think we’re going to go! We of course have a 6 yo tho… so we do see kid’s movies in the theater.

I’ve had similar thoughts Happi bun… I think it’s going to be a craze for awhile. I had 6 guinea pigs and they are a good amount of work. Movies like this do glamorize them and there may be a spike in pig sales. Hopefully not… but we’ll see.

I will rent it when it comes out- it looks cute.

I am just happy it is not bunnies because I made the same prediction as so many others have- it will boost guinea pig sales- which is not necassarily a good thing at all!  Just like 101 Dalmations increased Dalmatian puppy demand, and Snow Dogs (I think?) increased Husky puppy demand.  These movies definitely tend to have this impact on the pet industry.  I can’t blame the kids for wanting a pet- but it is the parents responsibility to do thorough research and for breeders to have a high standard of screening new owners- but the almight dollar usually wins out.    At least it is not bunnies- I am thankful for that!

I don’t really want to see it. But my 4 year old little cousin keeps begging me to see it so I will eventually give in lol

My local piggie rescue has already posted about the potential problems for piggies and this movie.

It does look cute and I laugh at the trailers.  Obviously though, those piggies are not at all like real piggies at all, so kids are going to be extremely disappointed if they get a real piggie.

It’s not something I would see one way or the other anyway.

You all bring up a very good point. I had not really thought about how this will up guinea pig sales. Now I feel bad about posting it. I truly hope this does not end in many piggies needing forever homes, that would be terrible!
I suppose a good statement would be made to discourage patronage of movies like this to perhaps show with our dollars that we won’t tolerate the exploitation of small furry animals (even in CG). But it’s sad that kids aren’t being taught the proper way to view such creatures, present company who will guide their children correctly excluded of course.
I am also glad it’s not a movie about rabbits. I dread the day Disney gets the rights to remake Watership Down actually…which I am sure they will probably do someday. >.<
I am hoping to see the Harry Potter movie with my daughter here soon. Not sure the hubby and son are going to be interested in it, so they’ll probably go off and see something else while we are there.

By the way, Happi Bun, lovely siggy and avvy!

lolz…Just realized my typo in the title. Jeez, embarrassing!

I freaked when I saw the preview for this!!!! I’m going to take my little niece who LOVES animals. I’m more excited than she is though. Cute piggies in 3D! I was at Toys R Us tonight and I saw the toys for the movie. Too cute.

We can just hope that parents will stop being idiots sometime in the near future and buying pets without research or planning because movies about cute animals are never going to stop and people are not going to stop seeing them.

I didn’t even see the typo until you pointed it out!
