I took Chloe to the vet and she’s fine. So my question is, why is she still peeing outside of her litter box? It’s clear that she knows how to use the litter box, but is choosing not to do it sometimes. She’s a happy bunny who binkies and flops around with her feet sticking in the air so I have no idea why she’s doing this. I thought she was mad at me, but she’s not!

Here is her pen set up. She’s now confined to this area because we’re afraid she’d pee under the couch or somewhere we can’t completely monitor. See her flopping out and all stretched and relaxed? She’s not unhappy is she?

This is what happens when I put her hay dish outside of her cage. At least it’s very easy to clean…

Where is the litterbox? I don’t see it.

            Hi Sarita,
Her litter box is in the corner on the left side. It’s the green tray and she does love to use it. However, she’s been having 1-2 accidents per week and it seems like a lot to me.

She has her accidents outside of her cage. Anywhere really. It seems like it’s one huge litterbox to her, but she’s also using the one inside the cage. :\

I tried putting the litter box outside of the cage as well and it’s the same. She’ll use it most of the time, but still has accidents.

When you say accidents do you mean she’s peeing outside the litter box?

Yes, she’s peeing outside her litter box. She never pees in her cage. Only on the wood flooring outside of her cage. She also poops anywhere and everywhere too. It seems like peeing is only once or twice a week outside the cage, but pooping is so random I don’t even know anymore. Most of the time it’s inside her litter box, but then she also poops all over (even inside her cage/sleeping area.)

Well, have you considered have 2 litter boxes? Maybe you need a larger litter box outside the cage and one for the cage.

Yes, I think try a larger litter box too. She may be pooping randomly if she eats her hay off the floor. Mine do that too. With a larger litterbox, you can try put hay in one end so she can munch and poop at same time. It really works.

Edit to add: You mentioned in another thread her cage is located off the kitchen?  Is this still the case?  Sometimes the noise and smells from the kitchen can stress them.  She could be reacting to something in this area also.

I too seem to be having those problems, but my bun has improved a bit. I found that getting a bigger litter box helped, also try to catch her in the act (if possible, then shoo her into her litterbox.

If you closed her cage door and left her in there would she only pee in her litterbox or would she pee in her cage too. My bun is completely litter trained in his little cage (I call it the litter training cage) but he sometimes has an accident outside the cage.

ALso try putting some hay in the litterbox.

EDIT: Sorry for repeating what you said Jersy, we posted at the same time.
