I left a frozen can of concentrated lemon juice in my bun’s cage last night because it was hot. turns out the sided were only made of paper (???) and she bit right through it. her cage was soaked with melted lemon juice, and she obviously had a lot of it. is this going to hurt her? should i take her to the vet??

        im freaking out right now.

I doubt that it will harm her. It might upset her stomach though since it’s pretty acidic. Since it’s Friday though why don’t you put in a call to your vet and see if they have any concerns about this just in case.

And are you certain she actually ate this? or is it just soaked into something.

well her cage is a tile floor, and there is some cardboard that soaked some of it up but the majority just isnt there. when i went to open her cage this morning she was licking the floor. im going to clean her feet right now as theyre soaked in lemon juice and im sure thats not good for her skin.

I’d just add that after you get it, and her, all clean, give her some fresh, clear water to drink and some hay. Hopefully, if it bothers her the water and hay will clear out her system.
