The poor little guy. He just thinks the world of her. He sits by her cage and watches her and gets upset when she’s gone. Tonight she was running from her cage to the living room as she always does for run time and usually just ignores him but he was sticking his nose out of his cage and she bit his nose/lip slit area. He kept licking it so I thought it was bad but I checked him and it doesn’t seem to be bleeding, at least not a lot.

I’m worried, if the skin was broken could such a minor become abcessed or infected? My poor little guy. Bitten by the love of his life. She was mad and growling at me because I dared tidy up her toys and blankets before I let her out and took it out on him.

Awww poor little Bindi! It is true that small cuts can turn into abcesses, so I would keep a close eye on the injury to see if there is any swelling or if it starts to look infected. You probably can’t put anything topical on that area because he will just lick it off. When Kramer really beat up Raymond the vet put Raymond on Baytril to combat any infections that would occur as a result of the bites, but I think that was because Raymond had several fairly significant wounds that broke the skin, so I don’t know if Baytril would really be needed in this situation. Of course, if you start to have any concerns or doubts about the injury it is always safest to go to a vet.

Oh poor Bindi! 0_o Just minding his own beeswax and she unloads on him like that? Bad girl!
I’d keep an eye on the area, if it looks sore or infected take him in, or have the vet look at him anyway if you want the peace of mind. It’s not bad enough that needs stitching or anything, is it?
If you use anything on it, like neosporin, just be sure it’s the kind that doesn’t have the analgesic in it. (I use this on Fiver’s heels when they looks sore.)
But, with it on his lip where he’s going to be licking. Hm. That’s a hard call. Bunnytowne just dealt with something like this with her Cotton Boo…he had a cut on his lip that just wouldn’t heal. She used neosporin and it seemed to be taking longer to heal…perhaps because it was always moist.
((((((hugs and healing vibes for Bindi Loo and his dignity)))))))) Poor little guy!
I think Olivia is going to bed without treats tonight, hm?

awe poor guy just sitting there giving her calf eyes and gets bit.   yes just watch it.  Cotton got bit in the same are and it was fine.  somethin happened to his bottom lip and i dont’ know what is was.  It is being treated with baytril.

Just keep an eye out for redness or swelling.

I don’t think it was much of a cut because today I can’t see anything. When I groom him later I’ll try to look at the area with a flashlight.

Just curious, is there a name for that little slit in their lip?

Ummm…I don’t mean to make light, but isn’t it called a ‘harelip’?

That’s what it’s called in people when they are born with the defect that causes the lip to not seal properly before birth. There IS a name for the divot in our upper lip, but I can’t remember the name of it. >_o I’ll go Google it.

Maybe it’s just called the ‘cleft’?
