        quick question! is oat hay considered a good hay like timothy or orchard grass? or does it fall in the same category as alfalfa?

          i would say its like timothy, because it is not rich. it would be yummy&healthy for max/penny

            I think it might be more fattening than timothy or orchard grass. But not high in calcium like Alfalfa.

              It is a grass hay. My rabbits don’t really like this hay though – it’s much thicker than the other grass hays. It looks very appetizing to me, but my rabbits pretty much ignore it.

                It is a good hay, but the oat heads make it more fattening, so if your bun is overweight you might not want to feed it. I will get it sometimes as an additional treat hay for Max and Mead, and I mix it in with their orchard.

                  ahhh got it. thanks!
                  i generally mix the timothy and orchard grass together and they love it- but max is going crazy for the oat hay! i just wanted to make sure it was healthy for him.

                    Your lucky that your rabbits love hay! I think oat hay would be a better treat than many things too if you use it as a treat.
