So Max is doing well during his molting cycle- the new hair is beginning to grow in. But today I noticed one (only one) “string of pearls”, you know where a pooplet is attached to another via hair. It was only two pooplets held together by some hair. Is this normal or should I be doing more to help the molt pass through his stomach? I’m brushing him and everything. Thanks!

It is typical during the molting phase. They will inevitably ingest some hair during grooming and they have to pass those. Lots and lots of hay, and keep brushing.

Yes, what Petzy says. This is a good thing – it means the fur is passing through.
