Just out of curiosity, do you guys shy away from plant-based pet products made in China, Taiwan, Korea, etc? Or if the product is made from a “Renewable Wood Source” instead of a specific kind of tree?

There are a bunch of wooden toys that I would love to get for Little-Bit, but these are the hesitations I run into. There’s a few really nice grass mats that are made by SuperPet as well as a ‘Knot Nibbler’ and some other wooden things, but you just never know where exactly they came from!

I have to be honest, I’ve never even thought about this! Of course I don’t get so many toys anymore for my rabbits either.

I have usually bought my toys in the past though from bunny-related retailers on-line that I trust so for that I have not been too concerned.

Most of the sites don’t usually mention either the type of wood, just that it is rabbit safe so I guess I’m guilty of just taking their word for it.

I really own buy bunny stuff from places like Binky Bunny, Busy Bunny, and Windy City Parrot (parrot supply store) and have just trusted that they are safe and that the retailer has done their homework.  My bunnies don’t care much for the “typical” pet store bunny toys, and I am too leary to buy from wicker or vine stuff from a dollar store that I have no idea where it came from, if it was treated, etc.

I am the same as Katnip. I do think about it when I look at stuff, so if I don’t know the product/name behind the product then I come home and do research before buying something like that. That being said, my bunnies mostly get cardboard and toys from BB so I don’t worry much about what could be in the stuff. I’m way to cheap to buy stuff I don’t almost know for sure will be a hit with at least one of my bunnies.

I’m really careful what I buy Holly. What I find she likes most is stuff I already have. When I let her out, she really liked Zach’s cloth rattles. She’d pick them up and toss them everywhere. I pretty much gave them to her because she liked them more than he did.

The absolute only things I buy that my buns will chew are the trio of wood chews from BB and the willow cubes and tunnels from BB.   In the past I bought things from petstores and no chewing. So I don’t bother with them.

Dollar and craft stores I am leary and don’t buy from them wicker or willow or anything. I have no idea if it has been treated or with what.

And with china etc  the lead in the stuff they sent here and the pet food that killed the dogs makes me think about what I am buying them.  I hope their food hasn’t come from china.
