She’s been sneezing quite a bit these past few days, which is unlike her. The other day she sneezed and I noticed two tiny drops of white mucous under her nose. Now whenever I hear her sneeze I check her nose but it’s been dry. I thought maybe it was because there was a lot of hay crumbs and dust in her cage so I dustbusted her cage and washed her blankets, I thought that stopped it but she’s started again.

Should I take her out of the rabbit room? I’m worried about the other rabbits too but I moved her to the living room the other night but she was really stressed and unhappy. Bindi was upset too because he couldn’t see her (he loves to just sit and stare in her cage).

Any ideas what this could be? I can’t imagine she caught anything (pasteurella, etc) because she hasn’t been exposed to any other rabbits other than my two.

Could be she picked up a cold somehow.  Snuffles or something.  It usually starts with sneezing.

If she’s better, it sounds like the dustbuster is helping. I’d try a very thorough cleaning of the whole bunny area and see how she is tomorrow.

              Possibly it’s just seasonal allergies.

I know Archie is sneezing more and I’ve even heard Gracie sneeze; so it might be allergies.  Archie loves to shove his nose in the hay bin, so he usually sneezes because he inhales hay dust.  And with Gracie shedding so much, I can’t keep up with the hair and dust all the time.

Interesting to find that bunnies have allergies too.   I guess that comes from domestication ?  I wouldn’t think wild rabbits would have this issue.   Must have been breed out of them in the wild due to survival of the fittest situation.

Dust and hay dust would definitely be a sneezing affair.

What my vets have told me in the past is that discharge is what signals a more serious problem, whereas the dry sneezes are not as serious. I’m sure thats not a 100% rule, but I usually get more worried if my bunnies have any discharge. A couple of my bunnies have been sneezing a lot more than normal for the past couple weeks and I think that is because the air quality here in Dallas has been pretty bad. Fortunately it rained today so maybe that will help. My husband shakes the hay out now before he gives it to the bunnies, and we also make sure to clean out the dust from their pellet dishes, and that seems to help a lot. Also, we upped the number of times that we vacuum their cage from 1 to 2 times per week.
