So, we’ve decided to try fostering a bun. His name is Vincent and he’s about 8 weeks old. Katy calls him Vinnie and I call him Vin Diesel.

Basically we have our home split in half now. I’ve set up a divider in the hall. Addie and Benjie have the run of the living room and kitchen. Vin has the computer room (where his cage is), dog’s room, and bathroom. He’s just loving all this room to run around. And it’s so much fun watching him run around playing. He’ll go tearing out of the cage at full speed, out of the room, around the corner in  to another room and then come running at full speed back in to his cage, slamming in to his bowls.

And he’s such a cuddle-bug. He is going to make someone an awesome pet. It’s REALLY tempting to adopt him, but Addie wants nothing at all to do with another bun (besides Benj) in the house. And she knows he’s here.

Oh my, someone will adopt him quickly. That’s so wonderful that you are fostering, I think you will find it very rewarding.

Oh my goodness, he looks almost exactly like Otto when we adopted him 2 months ago. Such a cutie! It’s a shame they get so big so fast.

AHHHH!  I showed Brett the pics and he said “You know what we have to do now?  Adopt Parsnip and Vincent and bond them together!”   He is so very cute, it’s going to be hard to give the little guy up!  I don’t think he’s up on petfinder yet…I think she’s secretly hoping that one of us will adopt him

Isn’t it funny how as soon as there’s another bun in the house the other’s know about it?  Gracie and Archie still go by the gate a little but they know that Parsnip’s gone right now so they’re not laying by the gate as much.

What a total sweetheart! I agree, someone will snap him up fast. Enjoy him and the fostering experience.

Awwwwwww! Bean wants to know why all the other cute buns live on the other side of the country. He says he thinks the living room’s big enough to share.

I agree with Megan’s post Megan needs to adopt Parsnip, and adopt Vincent, and bond them both together You know I’d have no problem with it Oh and this is Jen by the way. Bill, you rock for fostering Vincent for us I’ll probably post Vincent up tomorrow before we leave or while we are in FL, I doubt it will take much time for someone to want him, so if you want him, claim him now

Megan, is Parsnip out getting spayed now?

She got spayed last Tuesday, fiddled with her staples and got all but one out on Wed., went back to the vet that day and she has a e-collar on now   She’s at Jen’s right now (Welcome to the board Jen!!) and will get her stiches and everything out this Friday and we’ll get her back this weekend I think.

It’s so hard not to resist adopting them, isn’t it?!  We’ll see how Gracie gets along with Parsnip once she comes home…Gracie tried to bit her nose through the baby gate once but I’m hoping it was because she wasn’t fixed yet.  We’ll see though.  I really wish our house was bigger though.  I know we won’t be living here forever.

Oh yes, welcome here Azeemgus/Jen! I’ve heard a lot about your rescue! It always pops up when I do Petfinder searches (I’m 20 minutes west of Cleveland, OH). Before we found our 2nd bun (Max) I was interested in some of your buns, but we have a 5 year old son and I saw that all of your buns are “no children”. Do you run the rescue out of your home?

Hey Beka, Jen just went on vacation for the week; so you don’t have to wait for her…..she does run the rescue out of her home.  She fosters out some of the rabbits and she owns…9 I believe!  I don’t know how she does it all!    I think she also works with a shelter in NY too; I know that’s where she got the 4 baby buns and I think some rats too.  She only shelters rabbits, hamsters, g. pigs, rats and I think some cats because of limited room.

She’s a saint. I couldn’t even imagine doing all of that from your home! Sometimes I feel like I barely have room to breathe, let alone run a rescue! I’d love to give her place a visit someday, if I’m ever driving out that way!

haha yeah me too!  Seems like it’s crowded right now without Parsnip!  Luckilly for Jen, her basement is nicely finished and has all the adoptable ones down there.

Hey Bill, how big is little vincent suppose to get?  He looks like a mini Gracie   When I was holding him seems like he was shedding all over the place   Oh, I don’t know if you said this already or not; but Vincent was an unwanted Easter bunny, can you believe that?!  Who would not want such a cute little bugger??

Tell me about it! These poor little buns didn’t ask to be brought in to this world as pets. And then to top it off, some people look at them as disposable pets. And he’s not even a bad bun. He want’s loved, likes Scamp (dog), isn’t chewing everything up… nothing. He just wants his play time, affection time, and rest time.

Here’s a pic I just snapped a little bit ago to send off to Jen. I moved the grids away from his pen so he could run around. I moved them up against a wall and he must have found it to be a safe place to take a nap.

He’s very cute. I have to wonder if the Easter bunny stigma will ever go away for rabbits – I hope it does and there is alot of education and efforts from rescue groups trying to educate the public that rabbits do not want to be Easter Bunnies.

That shouldn’t be too hard… right??

We’re REALLY leaning towards adopting him. I emailed Jen today, asking if she could give us another week before posting him. We wanted a little more time to get past the “cuteness” and try to make a rational decision.

And Benjie… he won’t even let you touch him. He’s just sooo timid. You can get right up next to him and lay there, but touching is a no-no. And he’ll even eat out of your hand. I’ll pick him up when I open their pen in the morning and spend time holding, rubbing his head, and talking to him. He’ll let you hold him forever. But you can tell he doesn’t feel safe and wants down.

If you hold Addie for too long, she goes in to Freddie Krueger mode. So I can’t even imagine what she’d be like trying to hold and trim her nails. I did watch that “bunny burrito” vid on youtube, but I think I’d still like to watch my vet do it first.
