My cousins were going down to the Capitol yesterday to look at some aquarium shops because they want to start a saltwater tank (way too expensive for me!). Well since after my surgery I’ve been wanting to go and get some more cory catfish. When I first started my Version 2 of my 20gal I was focusing on zebra danios. Well of the 8 I got only 3 are still alive due to them all developing ick in the strangest way (it hit them one at a time with a sort of band around the middle and treatment didn’t work). I had also got 3 white cory cats of which only one lived. The two I got from Capitol are still kicking though, and apear to be very healthy. So I got 3 more yesterday! So now I have 6 total. I think they work best in my tank anyways since most of the time I look down into the tank and they play around at the bottom. I also found out that they can live up to 20 years or more! I’ll try to post a picture of my tank later, but does anyone else have a tank they want to share? I love looking at other people’s fishtanks!

I have a couple of fish tanks- 1 freshwater with 6 Glo Fish- danios that have been genetically altered with jellyfish DNA to have bright glowing colors- they are not dyed and are patented by the company that developed them- and there are 3 Panda Corys Cats with them along with 2 dwarf puffers.

I also have 3 saltwater tanks- 100 gallon reef, 20 gallon seahorse (and other fish) tank and a frag tank for growing corals out.

I also have a small betta tank with a filter that the cats drink out of- and the fish does not mind and has lived in the tank for over 3 years.

My husband and I belong to 2 saltwater fish clubs and sometimes travel to go to conferences about SW fishkeeping.  We used to belong to freshwater fish clubs but since downgrading to one freshwater tank- we focus more of our attention on saltwater.  I will have to post some pics!

Ooo I love fishies! I have 6 fish only aquariums

a 150 gallon which used to be a Discus specific tank but my last one died last year so I have turned it into a aggressive tank which I have to be very careful what I add to it so no one gets injured

55 gallon Blood Parrot Cichlid tank which has one BP and 4 Silver Dollars and a True Zebra Pleco (I do not recommend for anyone lol they are really really sensitive to water quality)

30 gallon community tank with Guppies, Neon tetras, Platies and Hexagon barbs

            2 10 gallon betta tanks

and a 20 gallon apple snail tank (ok technically not a fish)

So cool! Wow, kind of makes my 20gal seem pathetic! Haha. Mine used to be a female betta tank, but I moved them into my mom’s 55 gal and they are much happier with all the room!

Julie, what type of puffer are they? I would love to get one for my tank if they aren’t too big or aggressive! I thought those little puffers that I see sold everywhere now (including Walmart!) were a brackish fish. I think those genetically modified fish are banned in CA as I have never seen them. Which is silly since they still allowed tattooed ones.

Sonn, aren’t Discus hard to keep alive? My mom used to raise them (prechildren days) and while she was able to get them to impressive sizes she said that they were very picky about temp and water conditions. Right now she just has the betta girls and some random tetras (plus a platy given to us). Oh, and she has loaches too! Plus a small pond that she somehow keeps 8 medium koi alive in. Each fish is about 1ft+! My dad is going to help her build a pond though so that will be nice.

Discus are extremely difficult to keep alive lol. I kept my stock of 12 alive for 8 years roughly but I had around 6 die all at once then they just kept dying after that. If my water quality was even a little off they would go downhill quickly and moving with them was close to impossible it would take me close to a month after moving to get them all healthy again.

I know nothing about fishtanks, but I find them fascinating! I hope you all post pictures of your tanks for us to drool over!

Oh yes, I also would love to see pictures!

I had a big tank years ago but it was so much work. I just can’t do it again….the bunny takes enough work

I used to have a small tank.  Too much cleaning.  We went on vacation and my stepson was to take care of them got back they were all dead.

Hubby caught a seahorse in the river here.  He put it in a bucket and feeds it.  It is so cute.

                      Does anyone remember Aquaman?

I like aquariums but they aren’t for me.  Too much for me to take care of.

I find the tank to be less work than the rabbits, but I suppose I have had a good mentor in my mom teaching me the basics from a young age. Plus she knows what the good equipment is. I think that’s half the battle right there. Or maybe I’m just doing things the hard way with my rabbits. Hence why I am here and not on an aquarium forum (yet. that will come with the salt water tank I’ll get when I’m 30, or something like that)!
Here is a picture of my tank when I had a female betta pack. This was when I just started it, as I soon learned that I needed more plants as well as some floating logs (which were cool. I don’t know why they got discontinued).

yay for fishies. I love having fishtanks in the house. It’s so serene to watch fish swim. And I love growing aquatic plants too.

I have 3 fish tanks going right now. The biggest is a 55 gallon that has fancy goldfish in it.

second one is a 30 gallon community with mainly danios, cory cats, and kuhli loaches.

third is a small 5 or so gallon NPT (natural plated tank) it has soil covered by gravel for the plants and no filter.

The only thing in there right now is a ton of assorted snails.  I hope to put my 2 dwarf frogs in it soon. They live in the 30 gal at the moment.

Here are a few pictures! Starting with my goldie tank. Sorry I don’t have a full tank shot.

That’s an Oranda, Ryukin, and Telescope

And on the other side of the divider…

Telescope, Ryukin and the long ones are Dojo Loaches.

                          and the 30 gal..

                          one of the Kuhli Loaches..

                          5 gal NPT

That picture is old but now it is crawling with snails including apple, ramshorn, trumpet, and pond snails.

So there ya go guys. I hope I didn’t post too many picture!

oooh kyt that almost makes me like fish. they’re too squirmy for me, and when I was little they used to jump out of the tank and flop around on my floor and wake me up while I was sleeping!

Fish would be a good name for a bunny.

Those are some awesome tanks Crayon. Now I understand your avatar too! And of course you didn’t post too many pictures! I don’t know if that’s possible (unless you post a thousand pictures of your fish swimming across the tank with each pic just slightly different. Then we need to talk).

Sibley, I loved my bettas too until I reached my hand into the tank to move a rock and one bit the inside of my elbow (does that have a name?) and held on when I pulled my arm out screaming. It didn’t hurt that much, but it creeped me out! Then the poor thing fell onto the floor. After I put her back she was fine, actually looked rather proud of herself. I think the fall might have stunted her growth though as she didn’t grow after that. Haha. I still love the bettas, but I wouldn’t have them again unless I had a 55gal+ natural planted tank (so like Crayons, but bigger!).

Right now for my upcoming birthday I am asking for a couple rabbit things, but mostly stuff to make my tank even easier to take care of. Starting with a timer to turn the light(s) and air pump on and off for set times. An LED moonlight/bubbler. A whisper #60 air pump so I can use both my cannon bubbler (not pictured) as well as the moonlight one (which is going where the green one in the picture was since it fell apart on me!). There is also a little $10 shelf thing so I can make the gravel more raised and separate from the beach half (which is the side the palm trees are on, I put blue pebbles there to look like water). And vinyl tubing for it all. I discovered that today and even though it’s blue, I have a blue background so it shouldn’t look bad at all! My boyfriend thinks I’m crazy, but he does like how the fish tank sets the mood in the evening.
