Hello again, some of you helped me a few days ago when I thought my bunny was a little overweight (and it seems he isn’t ) Well I have been slowly introducing him to greens (cilantro and cellery so far). He LOVES them. He is still eating about 1/4 cup of pellets and hay but he gobbles up any cellery or cilantro I put in for him, immediately. The diet page says a minimum of 2 cups a day and I haven’t quite been giving him that since I’m trying not to shock his little system. But once we work up to that (we’re at about 1 cup a day now), is there such thing as giving him too much of those? Any input would be helpful, thanks!    -Jenna (and Chubs)

Until I found this website I would feed my bunny tons of greens – now I am cutting it down though I don’t really understand why it is necessary.

My bunny didn’t get any poo problems from eating all this green (I mean, he was a real poo machine!!! But that was it), and as long as it is not carrots I cannot see that a large amount of greens should have a bad effect.

So I am not helping much, but only saying that stomach-wise, it didn’t seem to be a problem to get tons of veggies.

The more greens- in an excess amount- a bunny eats the less hay the bunny will eat.  There is more fiber in hay than there is in most veggies.  Veggies/greens contain a higher amount of moisture which is good for the bunny- but they also contain more natural sugars or carbs depending on the fresh green/veggies.

Hay is without a doubt the one thing that most rabbit keepers agree on free feeding- and the more greens (or pellets) a rabbit eats- the less hay they will eat.
