I made one by zip-tying a cardboard box to the outside of the cage

Check out the diet guidelines above. For a bun that young, you should probably be feeding unlimited pellets. Before Otto was started on veggies, he would eat about 1/2 cup a day, which I spread out into two feedings. Now that he has veggies, he only eats about 1/4 cup, but I make sure he always has some available in his dish because he’s still growing. I’ll wean him down a bit when he hits 6 months. How much does your 2 month old bun weigh?

As for a hay rack, I have the willow one in the BB store. I have the tall side on the ground, so it’s resting horizontally. I have the opening facing his litterbox, so he can easily reach it from there, but can also walk up to the side of it and eat. When he makes a mess, I just sweep up the extra hay and throw it in his litter box. It helps that I have this all in a store bought cage which keeps the hay contained. If I used just an xpen, the hay would be all over the place (including outside of the xpen) and I’d probably find another system. I know others have come up with good racks.

I found a wire bin for about $5 at my local grocery store in the kitchen organization aisle by sink mats and napkin holder- I zip tie it to the NIC cubes and flip it up and hold it closed with a dog cage clip.  I learned to flip it closed because the rabbits were jumping into the basket to eat the hay and pooing in the “clean” hay- which I did not prefer since it is over their litterbox.  I like that it is big enough to put more than 1 days worth of hay in- and the spaces are big enough for them to pull it out easily.  In the months I have had this up- they have chewed some of the plastic coating off over the wire- but nothing that I would worry about them ingesting.

And now that I have 2 buns in a divided pen- their hay bin are on the dividing NIC panel (so the cats can’t sneak the hay from outside the cage- and barf it up later).  They are also back to back so they can’t “steal” each others hay- Schroeder digs all his hay out into the litterbox (not matter how much hay he has) and the would pull Cotton thru the NIC cube back.

I have not found an hay bin from a petstore that was anywhere near large enough- of course they make tiny hay bins to fit in tiny rabbit cages. 

I got this idea from another member on the board that uses this…a toilet paper holder from Kohls (or maybe target). We also zip tied cardboard around it since the hay does come out and was getting on the floor.
