I love my balcony! So does Bunny. It is pretty huge as far as balconies go. It’s like 26 feet by 8 feet.
Here are some photos I took a little bit ago. I have been looking forward to planting my pots since I moved here last October.
It is not yet finished or completely organized yet, but I think it still looks good.

Bunny does not eat the flowers because he will not jump up to get em.

Here I have some Timothy grass and some flat leafed parsley for Bunny.

theres, my chubby Bunny.. you can see his extra belly skin.

I would love to see pics of anyone elses balconies for bunnies and/or potted gardens.
Please link if you have already posted yours.
What a beautiful bunny! He seems to like the balcony just as much as you do!
I just posted pics under the Lounge-Gardening thread.
Pepper visits my deck, and as of yet she’s not tried to go down the stairs, although she does try to get into my next-door-neighbor’s kitchen.
That’s really beautiful.
Bunny is surveying “All that is mine, mine, mine!”
One little suggestion: I am a bit concerned about the latticework sides with the holes that look just big enough for Bunny to get through, or head stuck. Can you put about 3 NIC cubes or baby gates across those two parts just so Bunny can’t squeeze through?

Thanks for your concern, but I don’t want to add baby gates or cubes, that’s what the lattice is there for. I know it is hard to tell size from the pictures, but the holes are not big enough for Bunny to get through. I can’t see his head getting stuck either. The holes are large enough for him to poke his face into but not big enough for his shoulders. So his ears definately wouldn’t get through due to the length and possition of them reletive to the shoulders. Unless he somehow stuck his ears in first.. but even then I don’t think he would get stuck. Maybe I should get him to stick his head in to see. But anyways. even if I did need to block it off.. the far side lattice is blocked already by a fish tank and bike tire.
Wow that is beautiful. Lovely garden. A nice big area I wish ours was that way. We have to share and that mean old man next door throws peoples stuff to the ground.
Ummm I want a garden like yours. I should plant the parsley and carrots again. You are getting me excited about doing something l ike that.
well thanks Bunnytowne. You really should plant something. I love it.
Today I found aphids on my Bell Pepper plants! I have never had aphids before. I sprayed them off with water. I read up on home remedies and decided to spray a bit of dawn dish soap mixed with water for today. Tomorrow I am going to make a garlic solution to spray. Hopefully they do not become a big problem and aren’t hard to get rid of.
Oh, and if you do plant carrots, I read that there is a worm that loves to eat carrots, but if you mix in used coffee grounds in the soil it keeps them away.
Coffee grinds thanks for the tip. I also found roses like coffee grinds too. I used to grow them and gave them the grinds.
Wow, what a cool set-up! That is a big balcony. Looks like Bunny is right at home there- he’s a cutie (belly fat and all! hehe). How cool that you’re growing veggies for him!
hehe thanks Sibley, I like Bunny’s chin too
that vicious lady bug picture was amazing!
I forgot to mention earlier, I am also starting some basil, dill, and chive seed mix.
I will pull the chives to a different pot eventually but bunny likes basil and dill I think. I want to get at least one more thing Bunny can eat.
I’m not sure what though.
How about cilantro? My Winston will do almost anything for cilantro.
that is a great balcony! Cool tunnel. Love the turtles on the bike!
I keep trying to grow things – but, I have big black thumbs.
Bunny eats cilantro but he is not very enthusiastic about it.. so I am still trying to figure out what else to plant. I now have a 3’rd pot of parsley though!
I saw some swiss chard plants that looked awesome. I almost got it but I wanted to see if it was a bunny friendly food first.
I feed mine some swiss chard.
I plant the mesclun mix for them because it’s a nice variety pack similar to the spring mix in the grocery store;
Mesclun Mix is not one single type of kind of salad green, but rather, as
the name states, a mix.
The contents of the mix will vary. It often contains leaves such as baby
spinach, curly endive, dandelion, lamb’s lettuce, mizuna, purslane, red
chicory, red oak leaf lettuce, rocket, and romaine. Generally, it will be
a balance of sweet and bitter greens.
So jealous of your balcony!
Well it has been one month so it is time for the update.
I have added more and things have grown. It feels like a real garden out there, not just a balcony with some pots.
I will just get right to the pictures.
The sun hits the entire front part of the balcony pretty much all day. It works out perfectly.

The grape tomato plant is quite tall now!

I have little green peppers starting. To the left is parsley and chives. I got some merrigolds to help ward off aphids.
Notice the Happy Bunny figure in the pot. ![]()

pole beans.

parsley, celery, timothy grass, and what I call the ‘purple plant’.

dandelions and basil… lots of basil.

tub of tomatoes

flowers plus timothy grass.

Thanks for looking ![]()
I’m just seeing this thread now! WOW! That is an awesome balcony/garden/play area! It looks like the roof extends quite a bit over it too, which is good. I’m always concerned about birds swooping down.
My 6 year old came into the room while I was looking at the pics and said, “Is that… Meadow?” lol… Your bun is beautiful!
I am so impressed with you!!
What kind of plant is the purple plant?
Very impressive. Must be a great place to hang out!
I already gave three little basils away. I think I will start handing them out as gifts.
I don’t even know if Bunny will eat basil yet.
I like it!
I love your patio! All your plant are doing well too!!! Thats so nice that that front part of the patio gets sun!
Purple Plant is a Persian Shield (Strobilanthes Dyerianus).
It is actually meant to have more shade than is provided in it’s current location.
So I still have a little re-arranging to do.
Here is a better pic of it’s pretty leaves.

I want to hang out on your balcony! It looks so idyllic ![]()
That plant is so neat! The purple is so vibrant!

I love it. I searched every greenhouse in town till I found one! I had mine from last year that I wintered inside but I ended up planting it
in my sisters garden because it just was not recovering from winter very well in a pot on my balcony. It is growing fine now in the actual ground ![]()
I recomend this plant to anyone. It is my absolute favorite!
Wow you are quite the green thumb! I’m jealous! I normally have a half decent garden for me and my bunnies but this year hardly anything is growing ![]()
