I could not believe my eyes when I turned to the the “chiller” channel, and I saw the old “Land of the Lost” Series.  It was a series from back in the 70’s.  I was a kid then, and wow….it is ten times more cheezy than i ever thought.  But I still am lovin watching every cheesy episode!

Do any of you remember this or at least if your not old enough know what I’m talkin about?

Both my husband and I have been really sick with a nasty flu, and we’ve been fighting over the remote control, but now with the 12 episodes recorded, we are on the same nerdy page – going to have soup, and watch these for the rest of the evening.

I used to watch it on TV land when I was little. I saw this the other day too… I can’t believe how bad the graphics etc are!

Are you planning on seeing the movie version?

Laughing with you, not at you!!!!! I think we have 7 recorded and something like 48 to be recorded!!!! Whatever channel we get them on is having an all day marathon today (or maybe it was yesterday – should go check!!!!!) Both my husband and I watched it as a kid and with the new movie coming out, my almost 13 year old thinks they’re a riot!!!!!!!!! Maybe you could pass me your sick bug, so I have an excuse to watch them all in a row!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Used to watch those when I was younger- I had a brother that was 4 years older that loved sci fi stuff- so I used to watch Land of the Lost, Lost in Space- not to mention Dr Who, Star Trek (yeck!), Godzilla movies, etc.    I am 34 years old- so this must have been on a regular TV channel and not TV Land.

I saw the previews for the Land of the Lost movie and my prediction is that my brother is going to highly disapprove- and maybe not even see it.  Yes, it is super cheesy NOW when you look back at it- but back in the day I don’t think it was such a “comedy”.  So he won’t approve of the cast (Will Ferrel) and change of tone of the movie.

Personally, I don’t care that they changed the intent of the show- but then I watch movies for entertainment- not to analyze them and pick them apart like my brother does (much more analytical mind).

Yes, I used to watch it when I was younger. I saw that it was on sci fi the other week, but I had to leave and could’t watch any more.

I was flipping channels and saw it – and couldn’t believe the cheesiness!

It’s much worse than an all time favorite “I can’t believe I used to watch this” show, Davy and Goliath.

haaha that’s amazing. They re-made it when I was a kid too, which was silly. I want to watch! The channel name is chiller? Haha

Oh I remember it alright…wish I didn’t >.< I actually saw a LOTL metal lunchbox in my Barnes and Noble DVD section yesterday when I was in town taking my son to his SAT. And I heard that Will Farrell is in the movie version? I just couldn't believe they made it into a MOVIE??? 0_o

What’s next? A full screen version of Space: 1999? (well, I guess I wouldn’t mind that so much) ^_^

(Dr. Who….*glom*…I am totally thrilled with the new shows…except for that David Tennant is leaving as the Doctor at the end of the fourth series, which should be airing here this fall, I think. I HAVE to get a new t.v. before Friday so I don’t miss any during the digital switchover!)

I think there was an ad for LOTL on Yahoo that had a sleestak head on it when I booted up last night. I am just ALL a-tingle to see how they bring those buggers back…lolz…NOT!
Not meaning to offend, BB, because it’s cute that you guys are enjoying the show…but I know *I* spent WAAAY too much of my youth in front of it every Saturday morning when I should’ve been outside doing non-sedentary things. I can imagine it’s a great way to spend an evening with the hubby and a big pot of soup if you’re not feeling well…laughter being the best medicine and all that!

I can’t remember and this is sad…what did they call the T-Rex that always chased them into the cave with the skippy banjo music in the background every day? Grumpy? Grouchy? That was probably the best part of the show. xD

                        Hope you guys feel better!

Man it sure has been a cheesefest! Actually we had to stop watching because I would start laughing so hard which caused coughing fits. Not good while fighting the flu.
And Mimzmum – no offense taken! When I was a kid we only had three channels to watch (I grew up in Fairbanks) and there was a year or two that we didn’t have any television at all, and even when cable came to town and all my friends were watching MTV and all the fun stuff, my folks didn’t want it, and so I guess maybe now because of being so deprived (HAHA), I am stuck idolizing the few shows I do remember like “Land of the Lost”. Quite the pathetic media journey!

I think I also got so bored with the what I had to watch or listen to on the radio up there that I just made my own tape recordings of goofy stuff – (songs, prank calls, fake man on the street interviews, audio stories) I still have the tape recordings, just got it fixed so I could get it transferred to digital. It is pretty funny though because I used to have a lisp up until 2nd/3rd grade, so you can hear my lisp in the recordings. So see, Mimz, see what happens to you when do have to do something besides watch TV – you just get nutty…that’s all, nothing more.

Have you seen the ads for the new movie with Will Farrell? I’m amazed at how much they actually kept the original Sleestack costume for it.

Oh gosh, BB, I think you and I may have been twin sisters (though several years apart in time) separated at birth! 0_o
When I was about 9 years old, my dad (who was in reality my maternal grandfather, but I didn’t know that at the time) brought home a dictation machine from his office in San Francisco. This was one of those reel to reel types that lay flat on the desk and had an actual ‘cassette’ holding the tape, plus the little hand held microphone/speaker that you would talk into. I can’t tell you how often my best friend and I would put together ‘talk shows’ with that thing…it’s a wonder either of us didn’t get into the recording business by the time we were teens!
After that old relic broke down, I got one of those “Take N Tape” recorders (by Panasonic, did you ever have one of those?) and we’d play this game called “People Chess” where we’d take a mini magnetic chessboard and arrange the men of each color into little kingdoms and the queens would get together for tea and the kings plan warfare and whatnot…we taped HOURS of that game, plus one we simply called “Art Gallery” that was just one of us drawing and the other interviewing the ‘artist’, and I don’t have those recordings anymore, but I can definitely vouch for the ‘nutty’ end of the whole thing. My dad thought we were absolute screwballs, but hey, it kept us out of trouble!

My hubby can tell you about how little Fairbanksans had way back when…he went into shock when we first traveled here back in ’92 with our babies for a vacation…he was stunned at the buildup, then I got to hear all about how ‘simple’ it was when he was younger…lol. One movie theater and the advent of a Taco Bell was breaking news! ^_^

Anyway…you get the idea. It’s like an Almond Joy commercial…lmao! Everyone can laugh at me now. ^_^
