a binky is sign of bunny happiness i believe that i read some where that bunnies do it partly to practise their skillz since they need to be able to run away from predators. their ability to change direction mid-air confuses anything chasing them.

Binky’s are so much fun to watch.  They run this way then that.   They leap straight into the air like a popcorn   They run in circles.   Playtime.

Freya binkys a lot, which makes me happy as she is. She also does a lot of mini binkys, when she just tosses her head back and flicks her ears, much like you imagine the blond super model doing, only faster and not sexy. I imagine that it’s twice as fun to watch the flick on my little lop since her ears are so funny when she does it.

She better be happy, she’s a spoiled brat who gets away with a lot more than she should. Sigh, I let a troublemaker steal my heart.

I notice that my bunnies like to binky and zoom especially where we can see them.  I think it is there way of saying that they feel good about life and are HAPPY!

A really great site for learning about bunny “language” – such as binkies, is the Language of Lagamorphs site.  It is very informative and also very entertaining to read.  I learned a lot about rabbit speak from this site, my favorite is the part called “R-E-S-P-E-C-T” because its very funny when your bunny tells you how much you have offended them in rabbit-speak.

Here’s a good example of a bunny doing some binkies
This is our foster bun, Parsnip being caught doing some binkies while I was hiding

Some binkies are downright hilarious! My bunny often just does them out of nowhere—he jumps straight up, kicks out his legs and contorts to the side. Sometimes he does them mid hop. So cute. It’s a bunny expression of joy!

I didn’t know what binky meant either til I read this forum. I’m glad to hear that this behavior is a sign of happiness! We aren’t very familiar with bunny behavior so when our new rabbit, Cancer, started running around like a spaz we thought there might be something wrong with her! But I guess she’s just a happy girl!

It does look like they are spazing out.

It’s really easy to let a troublemaker steal your heart. And I think that it’s probably really hard not to spoil a rabbit. All of my animals are spoiled rotten. My dog was watching Sir Thumps a lot binky and he was thinking “What the heck is this thing doing?” It was the funniest thing I probably will ever see. I only regret not taping it. He has gotten used to it…sort of. Every once in a while he still looks up at me and says with his eyes….What is wrong with this thing. I don’t think he really knows what it is but he loves licking it.
