I had three bunnies longer than I have had just two, but for me because most of the time the were not a bonded trio and that made a big difference when it came to time and work. If you were able to successful create a bonded trio, that can make things much easier.
I also had to deal with poop wars – again, only if the trio is not bonded, and then the separate exercise times out. It could all get a bit tedious but I was so used to it. It was only when I was down to one bonded pair that I realized how much more time I had to spend with them, and how much more freedom they received = and how much more time and freedom I had too!
The other thing was vet expense. Two of the bunnies happened to need regular medical care as one (Rucy) had teeth issues, and the other one (Bailey) developed symptoms from e.cuniculi. Having several can just raise your chances that vet care will be needed.
As far as day to day expenses though, I really didn’t notice a huge difference. Obviously more food and litter, but it wasn’t a major drastic financial difference from two to three.
I also work from home, but my schedule is pretty much non-stop, so I like 2crazybuns said, it really depends on your schedule and how much time you have, and how much free time you want to give to this.
Many people do just fine with the demands of time that more bunnies require – it’s something that they love to do and brings them joy, so it may not feel like work at all.
