  I am such a sucker. Mary Ellen from Bunny Lu called me today and asked if I would foster a momma bun and EIGHT one week old babies. And I said yes. I am such a glutton for punishment. I’m trying to figure out where I’m gonna put them…lol
  
  Mama is ~maybe~ five months old. The babies are just starting to open their eyes. There are seven little ones. Mama is very sweet, she let hold her and she doesn’t shy away from my hands.
  
  She was owned by a man who let her get loose. He didn’t set her loose, she escaped on her own. She was kept outside. Rather than try to catch her he replaced her with another rabbit. A neighbor’s kids caught her and took her home to their mom. She tried to return her and the man didn’t want her. He said he already got another rabbit. The neighbor took her home and stuck her in a cage and tried to place her in a rescue. Mama had the babies over night. The lady called Bunny Lu, Mary Ellen said “Let me call Kristie and see if she can take them” . Of course I was a sucker and said I would and I picked them up today.

  I have no doubt whatsoever that you’ll make it work. 1 wk old babies…..can’t wait for pics! What breed (mix) are they, do you know yet?

  I have no idea, Jersey. I just know that she’s young and part of the first group of Easter dumps.
  
  I know I had a rough time with six fosters last fall but they all had to be kept in separate cages. I know that as soon as they’re big enough Mary Ellen will take them off my hands. I’ll only be dealing with one cage/pen, even if there are nine rabbits in it.

  Thanks for the good luck vibes Adalaide. I have a feeling I’m gonna need them. I just cleared out my dining “room” (more like an area than a room in a townhouse) and blocked it off so the dogs can’t get in there. The place is gonna be kind of haphazard for a while but I can’t say no when Mary Ellen asks for help. She doesn’t ask unless she truly needs it.

  Wow eight little babies!! I’m glad the bunnies were turned in to Bunny Lu!! Keep us updated and we love pictures, lol!

  Oh wow, how cute! Makes me mad that man got another rabbit. It’s good though that the neighbor was kind enough to help her and luckily she rescued her when she did.

  Poor Mama is so skinny. I can’t wait til she gains some weight…I’m not really looking forward to mobile babies though. I like them nice and tiny and not able to do a whole lot…sort of how I like humans. :0)

  Is the Mama on Alfalfa pellets or hay? I think that’s recommended for lactating does. The bubs are big for 1 wk olds – and moving about too by the looks! They appear very healthy. I love the velvety looking ears on the Mum. Do you have the honor of naming her and all the babies? I reckon you’re going to need Shayna volunteering at your house rather than Bunny Lu’s!!

  She’s eating alfalfa pellets and timmy hay. She’s got some oats mixed in her pellets too. And yes, I get to name them all. :0)

  Usually they are pretty skinny right after giving birth – Mama that is. Can’t wait to hear what you name them :~)

  Oh my gosh they are so adorable. I want baby bunnies Ruby.    I love that one on the sheepskin by itself and the one in your hand.
  
  Yes when they get hopping around it gets messy.   I would love to have a baby that would stay like that forever.

  LOL BT you didn’t miss them. I went back and added them in. I thought it would be easier for people who haven’t seen the thread yet than scrolling down to find them.
  
  *sigh* It will be such a hardship to handle all of those babies every single day. I don’t know how I’m going to force myself to take on such a tedious chore…lol!
  
  I’m already in love with Mama. I’m trying to come up with a name for her but I want to wait until I know her better before I pick something.
