can anyone help me with the whole lop rabbit thing ii got a white lop eared rabbit with blue eyes and was told he was a mini lop …. fair enuff but he is massive!! and he is only 10 weeks old !! ill love him all the same i just want to know what he is i know u can get holland lops mini lops dwarf lops and french lops oooo sooo confused !!!
so i decided to search online but i cant work it out i had a lop before that could have fit in my hand and i thought she was a mini lop now i dnt know any information would be great even pictures of the various breeds i will upload a pic of my cutie soon =) my family of bunnys has expanded! and i now have 7 and babysitting another for my bf’s parents
warning to those wanting to become a bunny mummy !!!THEY ARE ADDICTIVE!!!
How much does your bunny weigh? Or how long is his body when he’s sitting normally? My holland lop is 12 weeks old and weighs almost 2lbs. I would imagine a mini lop at that age would be 2-3lbs. And posting a picture should help us figure it out too. I love lop babies! Can’t wait to see him.
As far as I know, these are the breeds of lops:
Holland Lop (called a mini lop in the UK) — 3-4lbs
Mini Lop (called a dwarf lop in the UK) — 5-6lbs
English Lop — 11lbs
French Lop — 10lbs
ooo soo confusing im going to take a picture of him now ill take a pic with my hand in it to give u a lil help with his size =D and ill weigh him =D oh i feel so organised …..now were did i leave the bunny scales lol
okay this cant be right going to go get the scales but my 10 week old bunny is 0.2kilograms or 200g………>.< took the pics just have to try the whole uploading thing
Yeah, 0.2kg is very small! My holland lop was 0.8kg when he went to the vet at 8 weeks. (when I said he was about a pound, I meant about a kilo, which would be more like 2lbs)
we weighed him wrong lol scales were broken but we got another set and he is …745 grams or 1.64244 pounds lol or 26 ounces doesnt really make that much sence for me well anyway here are the pictures

the pics just dont do him justice he had the most beautiful blue eyes ever!!!
take it no one knows… sniff sniff she can be my wonderbunny!!! new breeed of lop eared wonderbunnys
hehe! Look at that baby fur! The lops can appear larger but when you weigh them it’s not as much as you may think. I thought I had the difference in the names sorted but now…not so sure. Elrowen described it well. Is it possible he’s a mix? To me, he looks like a dwarf lop (mini lop in the US) and they weigh in near 3kg (6 1/2 lbs ) as an adult.
Rabbit breeds cabbe so variable! I have what I believe to be 2 Mini Lops, and I had a Holland Lop. My Mini Lops are about 4 1/2 lbs- but they look very differently in the face. Cotton has a very short nose like a Holland Lop and Schroeder has a longer nose and longer ears like maybe a mix. I think that a lot of the time rabbits are NOT bred to breed standards- like many dogs and cats are. They are bred by accident which results in many mixes and they are also bred to be “cute” which can also result in many mixes. And from my understanding other rabbit breeds are sometimes used by breeders to introduce other characteristics into a line-such as color or coat length. Now in the dog and cat breeding world- all resulting offspring would be “mutts” and none of the line would ever be purebred- but I am not sure that is the case with rabbits. I think this was done to create the tri-color rabbits (calico cat looking bunnies with white, black and orange).
So even if a bunny if a purebred it is hard to know unless you got them from a breeder- especially the lops. Some of the other breeds that have exclusive feautures might be easier to determine- like curly whiskers and unique coat of a rex (or mini rex).

dnt think hes a mix the person i got him of got him from a breeder guess we will see when he is a big boy thing is hes just so soft i dnt want him to grow up
I dont know much about breeds but he looks alot like the size of peppa and i think we decided in the end peppa was prob a dwarf lop x

Sorry this is peppa xx
awwww how cuteeeee
Arr peppa says thanks, she is hoping to use that cuteness later to get some treats ![]()
wot is it with lops that when they look up at u ….. u just have to give them a treat!!
I am no expert, but he looks like a holland lop (mini lop in the UK) to me and the weight would be right for that breed too. He’s adorable!
He looks just like Freya, only a different color, who I’m assuming the vet will tell me today is about 12-14 weeks old. Freya is a mini lop, or so I’m told. He’s so adorable, but you missed your helicopter ears. Freya still has one up and one down, haha. One day I’ll find a camera… one day.
aww i wish i had got to see the helicopter ears but i didnt intend to get the bunny just have the space and time and a bunny wants a mummy lol
I never really think about what breeds my bunnies are. My Marshmallow is def. some kind of lop mix. Her face is very narrow and her body is shaped a little funny but I still love her to pieces. Digger is a mini-rex and I chose him because of his beautiful black color (and he peed on me from his cage at the shelter, which I took to mean that he was claiming me…lol) and the bunny boys are lionhead mixes. I didn’t know that until their manes started growing in.
I know that in the future I want a flemmie but I only know that because I’ve been volunteering at the rescue. Before I knew what they were called I wanted ‘one of those huge uppy eared bunnies”. :0)
