That can’t be good…. I caught him eating a crayon.  It looks like he only ate about a half an inch of it, but are crayons digestible?  How can a crayon even taste good??  I hope it’s ok.

I’m pretty sure he’s OK since someone’s bunny ate a crayon once and posted here. Let me see if I can find that thread.

Sorry. The search function isn’t working for me. I’d suggest you watch him carefully, give him a lot of hay and water so he can move his digestion and if he shows any sign of not being able to poop later or doesn’t want to eat (or anything out of the ordinary) then take him to the vet. Not sure which time zone you’re in, but if it’s still before 5 or 6 PM, give your vet a quick call to ask if the vet thinks he’s OK.

I doubt it will be too much of a problem- just keep an eye of Ruffles, like RabbitPam mentioned, to make sure everything is moving thru the gut OK.  I figure crayons can’t be too bad since I am sure that young kids must try to eat them too (I don’t have kids- but that seems likely to me).  I would think that you might see chunks of crayon in Ruffles poos- unless he ate a brown crayon

Is Ruffles eating and pooing normally today? (pink poo?)

I hope Ruffles is doing ok today! I would also imagine that a crayon wouldn’t be all that bad because it doesn’t seem likely to me that a crayon would really break down all that much in the digestive system. I would think that it would just be important to keep the crayon moving and for it to come out the other end

Yeah he’s fine. Thanks everyone. I just feel like I’ve read so many horror stories of rabbits eating this or that and then having major issues.

Pepper has never gotten a crayon, but she has managed to nibble on a candle on several occasions – not even the scented kind!  I watch for a few days to make sure her poops are normal but otherwise she’s fine.  I know some buns have more finisky systems, but Pepper has a cast-iron tummy.

Haha, my bunny has eaten much worse. He’s eaten entire armpits out of sweaty t-shirts, large sections of painted baseboard and carpet. Their digestive systems arn’t too great so most of it passes through easily and quickly. I wouldn’t worry.
