        Hi Guys,

Wasn’t sure where to post this, but I had to share this story.  A couple of nights ago, my foster rabbit Cleopatra and my lop Stella started thumping like crazy!  I was in my office working. The thumping was unusually loud.  Thinking it was a cat lurking under their window (this has happened before) I thought nothing of it and told them to stop.

The next day I went outside in my back yard and noticed that someone had walked from the open field behind my home and into my back yard!  I could see the trail they left from the tall grass in the field.  Nothing was taken, but I was alarmed nonetheless.  I remembered the thumping and went in to apologize to Cleopatra and Stella.  They were trying to tell me something was outside and I didn’t listen.

Needless to say, when they thump next time, I’ll pay more attention.  I never use to activate my security system in my home at night.  I do now.  They are the best security system a girl can have!

Smart rabbits! It’s scary that someone walked into your back yard – glad you are keeping your alarm on when you are at home.

WOW!!! That is awesome!!! I’ll have to pay more attention to Oreo from now on too! We live in a gated community but you just never know. We also have 3 dogs a boxer, pit bull and pug. They are good security, but thats just amazing, I never would have thought that my bunny could be a good security system too!!! =)

I’m so glad you didn’t have the prowler come in and have activated your security alarm. Maybe he heard the bunnies and was scared off.

I just learned that lesson last week. I went to bed and Sammy was chewing on the bars furiously. I ignored her thinking she just didn’t want to go to bed so early and eventually she quieted down. In the morning I discovered that I’d turned off the TV next to her cage, but left the cable lights on and there was a huge blue glow in the the room. (I usually turn it off.)

Oh my what a great way a reminder to stay safe! (Gives me shivers!) We have an alarm system too, but Jack has the loudest thump that even before could set-off the alarm, he would be let us know – his thump vibrates throughout the house (more so do due to the hardwood flloors). I wake up everytime he does this. He has gotten used to normal noises – like our neighbors car door etc. But anything new, he alarms us. One time my husband was went to fix the screen from the outside of the bunnyroom, and I heard thumping like crazy. I went in there to find out what was going on and saw my husband just beginning to get the screen off. So the Jack was a good guard dog!
