Well, I just decided to join here. I am a teenager in Kansas that goes by the name of Lexi. I have been breeding and showing rabbits for 5 years now. My mother used to raise them back when she was younger. I used to breed Mini Rexes, then switched over to Lionheads which I gave up on and my mom wanted them so she does all the feeding then I borrow them for showing. I will be getting a Castor and REW Mini Rex breeding pair hopefully this week. I hope to be getting Standard Rexes soon. I have bred lops off and on the entire time and showing the best of them. I don’t really enjoy breeding them though because of there cannibalism tendancies. I do own an old Mini Lop named Twix, he is a sterile buck that we adopted from my brothers-friends- pregnant girlfriend who couldn’t take care of anymore. He made adorable babies before he went sterile and now because of his temperament and all my mother refuses to ever sell him. I am not sure what his official color is called as he was bought from a little pet store, it is an odd orange color with white roots. His girlfriend is a black and white broken, one eyed, holland lop doe. I got her from my best friends aunt who became allergic to her after paying lots of green to for the bunnies operations on her missing eye ball. She is sort of a rescue because the aunt got her from the back store room because the pet store intended on selling her as snake food because of her one eye. Now she is the biggest baby in the entire world. Not to mention her love for Twix.

I also show two paint horses, Chase and Shasta. I breed rats and mice as well. I own 3 cats, 2 sheltie dogs, and a bunch of fish.

Hi Lexi ! Welcome to Binky Bunny. You obviously enjoy having animals around!

I just want to let you know that this is a house rabbit community but the subject of breeding is taboo. There’s a line at the top of the page that reads:
BUNNY 911: If your rabbit hasn’t eaten or pooped in 12-24 hours, call a vet immediately! The subject of intentional breeding and/or meat rabbits is prohibited.
It is also stated in the forum rules and guidelines…

The site was created by someone passionate about work in rabbit rescue. Breeders do have their place but as you may know, rescuers have to deal with the over population of rabbits daily because of irresponsible pet owners. So it can be a touchy subject between breeding & rescuing so the guidelines just state to stay away from the subject.

That doesn’t mean that you cannot be a member here though! You obviously have 2 pet rabbits that we’d love to hear more about. And the other animals. Lots of horse, ferret, rat, cat, dog, guinea pig, bird and marine animal lovers here!

On BinkyBunny, posting about intentional breeding is not allowed. We recommend that rabbits be housed indoors as members of the family, and also be spayed/neutered to prevent pregnancy and prolong the life of the bunny. If you need information about altering and indoor housing solutions, please ask.
