my bunny just started twitching.. she only little and you cant tell when shes moving so they arent violent.. but she i was petting her and she layed down. then out of nowhere she started twitching? its not like a wild twitch, put her head thumps up and her body moves from it… its almost as if she has a really heavy heart beat thats movng her body..

she did it for about 10 seconds, then stopped, then got it again for another 10 seconds.. should i be worried?

          Is she still doing it?
Can you describe it another way?
Bunnies can be very skittish and twitch, and it also could be a little binkie. I am concerned that it might be a problem, so let us know if it changes. Will she get up from the lying down position, and does it keep happening? (Bunnies also can get hiccups. Is it like that?)

I have not heard of this before, the only type of twitches I’ve seen that you are describing are accompanied by sneezes – she isn’t sneezing is she? If it continues for awhile, I would say that it is a cause for concern only because I have not heard of something like this before, and I can’t think of what it could be. If it starts to get worse, or is accompanied by your bunny getting dizzy and falling over and rolling around, then it is very serious and you should go to the vet right away.

she seems to be fine now, and yes she would get up. it could have been hiccups, it seems like that would describe the movements. her head would tilt back, like in a jerk. she gotup for a little while and now she’s back down, and seems perfectly fine.
i know it wasnt her being skittish, and she wasnt binkying, she was very calm through the episode.. im keeping a close watch on her now, until she goes to bed tonight.

If I had to guess I say hiccups.  But that might just be because my bunny had bad hiccups recently… so I think all “head twitching” that makes the head go up is a hiccup…
