  I fed my dogs this morning and evidently Haven decided he didn’t want to eat this morning and I forgot to take up his food. I let Marshmallow (my overweight bunny) out to play and run around. I kept hearing her crunch on something but when I would look she would be all the way on the other side of the room.
  
  Now mind you I feed my dogs an extremely high protein grain free dog food (as in nothing at all a bunny should eat) and I turn around and there is Marshmallow EATING the dog food! She dug some out of the bowl and as I am trying to pick it up she keeps eating it! I had to put her in her pen to pick it up before I could let her back out.
  
  This isn’t the first time she has done this. I feed my ferrets a raw meal 3 times a week I set the bowl on my bed so I could get them out to put them in the ‘raw pen’ since they tend to stash it if I don’t. And I look over and she has a piece of RAW chicken hanging out of her mouth!
  
  I am now going to have to start putting all meat based anything on the shelves or something lol.
  
  I wonder if it is because her previous owners fed her cat food? She eats her hay and pellets just fine and gets excited if I offer her any kind of veggies but dog food and raw meat????

  That’s weird that she would eat raw meat! I would think a rabbit would be totally disgusted by that!!!
  
  Stormy used to sneak cat food once in a while, though, so the dog food doesn’t surprise me.

  Yes it surprised me as well when I seen her eat the raw meat and kind of made me a wee big nauseous to think of a bunny eating meat for some reason lol.

  Yew – thats pretty gross I’d try to take some extra precautions to make sure that doesn’t happen any more. Bunnies have such sensitive stomachs, and I’m quite sure they are not designed to digest that stuff, so hopefully you can find some techniques to make sure Marshmallow stops eating her doggy diet! Maybe you could get one of those things that elevate the dog food dishes so that marshmallow can’t reach the food?

  I don’t normally leave the dog food down since I have 7 dogs I would need a giant bowl lol so they are on a feeding schedule. Haven didn’t eat all his and I forgot to pick it up. So starting tonight the food will be picked up as soon as they leave the bowl lol. As for the ferrets I will start just taking the food in the ferret’s day room and put it in there while I put them in their pen.
  
  I have elevated food bowls but she can reach them! LOL no more doggie or ferret diet for my meat craving bunny. I honestly didn’t think she would go near the raw meat but surprise surprise she did.

  Ewie! Well, in her defense…maybe she was just picking the meat up with her teeth, not actually eating it? Makes me feel better to believe that at least. lol

  Maybe Marshmallow needs to see a bunny shrink: he can slowly indoctrinate her to accept her identity as vergetarian lagomorph… maybe he can even give her ‘skinny’ thoughts
  
  My bunny Lint always checks my dogs’ bowl, elevated also, to see if someone didn’t drop a piece of Orijen kibble… I first thought, it was because of the botanicals in that kibble…but then one morning I had made scrambled eggs for my dog b/c he had been sick and was off dry food, I put the egss on my porch to cool down. Lint was playing on the porch and came scooting around the corner to help himself to a piece of hot scrambled egg! I got to him in time before he could actually eat it up, but I don’t trust him anymore around any edible materials. Lint is a very very greedy eater, maybe you could call him a glutton.
  
  Having said this, I could see Marshmallow eating the raw chicken also….

  I got a kick out of this!!!! When ever I clean Oreo’s pen, and feed him I always let him out to play, he loves to play in pantry, since I keep all my cleaning supplies(on the very top shelf… I have to stretch to reach it!), dog food, cat food, and rabbit stuff in there it is appealing to check out I guess. Well this morning I started hearing “CRUNCH….RIPPPPPPPPPP…..CRUNCH……” Yeah… that would be Oreo trying to get into the cat food bag!!! “oh how yummy I guess compared to his Organically grown leafy greens, and veggies! silly boy!!!
