And here I thought I was really lucky and my rabbit didn’t really shed at all.  I read about people going through their shedding phases and freaking out.  I really didn’t know what that was like.  I’ve had Bailey since the beginning of February and any time I brushed her and some hair came out, I thought “Oh, well this shedding problem isn’t such a big deal.  Maybe my rabbit just doesn’t have shedding problems.”

I went to pet her yesterday and fur flew up into my face and stayed there.  Anytime I tried to get the hair out of my face, it got worse.  Then I looked down at her and there was my hand print in her fur where I wiped some of her hair up.  I was like, “Oh My Gawd!  What is happening!”

I grabbed the brush and filled it up with fur within 2 strokes.  I emptied it.  Brushed again, emptied….over and over and over.  It’s like how much hair can you possibly have?  I could have taken that fur and formed it into another rabbit so Bailey could have a little furry friend.  So now I know…..oh, yes….now I know.

Oh yes. It’s a common misconception that rexes don’t shed, or not a lot, but they do. Having a rex and a non-rex, I find that sometimes the rex fur is more annoying. I think since it’s so fine, it tends to cling more than the normal rabbit fur, and it gets more “air-borne”.

Uh, normal rabbit fur is pretty darn clingy…lol

I’ve had the bunny boys for almost a year and they haven’t had a major molt. They shed what I would consider to be normal amounts…if they were cats. Digger is the only one who has molted and he’s only done that once. It wasn’t pretty when he did.

yeah, we had our morning brushing this morning. here is round 1 this morning. Had to empty and do some more.

I find it odd that her fur is brown, but whenever it comes up, it’s gray.  When I look closely she has fully gray fur, but just the tips are brown to make her a brown rabbit.  she’s a weirdo lol
