Well finally I think we got Pepe’s teeth right! This has been such an issue with him for the past 4 months – every 2 to 4 weeks. My vet said his teeth were more ridged than most rabbit’s teeth and she thinks too he is just hypersensitive to any spurs. She trimmed them 2 weeks ago more aggressively than she has in the past and he bounced right back the next day. He never ever does that – it takes him a full week.
At first I thought it was the anesthesia but she said it wouldn’t be that today when I spoke with her and that she thinks trimming them lower helped alot.
She said normally she doesn’t like to trim too much becuase if you aren’t careful it can cause additional problems like abcesses and such but she knows now that’s what is going to work for Pepe.
I also had to take Ms. Maxine in a few weeks ago for a UTI and we put her on baytril and she’s better. I also think she is having some motility problems as well and tried to give her the baby aspirin in her craisins and she seems to have lost her cravings for craisins too so she would not eat the baby aspirin I hid in them. So I put her on some metacam again and that helped. We are just doing metacam for a few days as needed to help relieve the pain.
Twizzler seems to be doing better too after the vet did a bladder flush but I know that is just a temporary fix. I have a difficult time doing sub-q’s on her though but I’m going to keep trying. I am expressing her bladder daily though – she doesn’t always pee but it helps to hopefully get the sludge down to her uretha – I did notice a huge sludge stain on her carpet the other day so I’m hoping that trying to express it daily will help eliminate the sludge.
Right now I feel good that all my rabbits are doing seemingly well. Even Giselle is doing good.
It’s challenging when you have older rabbits (and so many too). So when all are doing well, life is good
